[HWPL] 'Letter of Support for the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula' from 60 leaders of Eastern Europe

Parts of a letter in support of the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula, sent to HWPL, by former presidents and heads of state of Eastern Europe in May 2018

In May 2018, with a heightened sense of peace on the Korean Peninsular in view of the April 2018 inter-Korean summit on the 27th, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man-hee Lee) embarked on its 27th peace tour of five countries in Europe.

61 leaders and influential figures, including former presidents and prime ministers, who believe that peace on the Korean Peninsular can serve as a shortcut to world peace, wrote a letter in support of the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsular and delivered it to HWPL. These letters embody a desire for free movement and unification between the two Koreas, and their intention to participate in HWPL's peace activities.

These noteworthy letters were delivered following a high-level meeting, attended by the former political leaders of Eastern European countries, that was held in support of the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsular on May 19th 2018. This meeting was held in collaboration with HWPL and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization (ISACCL, Chairman Emil Constantinescu). At this meeting, the former President of Romania Emil Constantinescu wrote and delivered a 'letter of support for the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula' to Chairman Lee.

Within the letter, former President Emil Constantinescu wrote, "I support the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula," and added, "I commend the two leaders for their determination in bringing the (April 2018 inter-Korean) summit to an end, laying the foundation for the cessation of war and achievement of peace on the Korean Peninsula."

He continued, “The sight of the leaders of the two countries holding hands and freely traveling across the demarcation line that separates the two countries moved the world.” ''In order to achieve this, the guns that are aimed at the chest of the people must be taken away, and the people of the South and the North must come and go freely.”

In addition, he said, “HWPL Chairman Man-hee Lee, as a veteran of the Korean War, has travelled the world 26 times and strives to achieve peace more than anyone else.” He said, ''his peace activities have given everyone hope that 'peace can be achieved'".

Former President Emil Constantinescu also said, "As a person who participates in and supports HWPL's peace activities to realize world peace, I believe that HWPL's peace activities are having a positive impact, directly or indirectly." He continued, "I look forward to the day when a new era of national reconciliation and peace and prosperity will bear fruit as a result of reunification of the Korean Peninsula, and it becomes a peaceful nation for the world."

Lastly, the former President said, "I hope that Chairman Lee's efforts for the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula will yield successful results and become a model for world peace."

The 3rd President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko expressed his sincere support for the reunification of the Korean Peninsula in the letter, and the 4th President of Albania Rexhep Meidani wrote that it was a "successful meeting and a very special exchange."

The 13th President of Bosnia and Herzegovina Haris Silajdžić, said, "I hope that HWPL's efforts for peace will be successful and set an example for the world.'' He expressed his gratitude in the letter, writing, "I thank Chairman Man-hee Lee for his peace efforts." Former East German Prime Minister Lothar de Maizière wrote, "Chairman Lee's peace activities have given everyone hope that 'peace can be achieved'”. Former East German head of government Hans Modrow said, “I hope that the new era will bear fruit as a result of the reunification of the Korean Peninsula.”

In addition to these letters of support for the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula, participants in the event included the former Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Belarus Stanislav Shushkevich; President of the Baltic-Black Sea Forum Gennady Bourbulis; German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) Martin Rabanus; former Minister of Trade and Tourism of the East German government Sybille Reider; Mayor of Targu Mures of Romania Dorin Florea; co-chairman of the German left-wing party 'Die Linke' of the German state of Hesse Ulrich Wilken; German lawyer Wolf Rider; Professor of International Law at the University of Cologne Stefan Hoff; Judge at the Constitutional Court of Romania Petre Lăzăroiu; Vice-President of Mayors for Peace (Norway) Thore Vestby; and German civil rights activist and author Friedrich Schorlemmer.

The letter-giving ceremony in support of the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsular was held not only in Romania, but in cities throughout HWPL's European tour. Prior to visiting Romania, at a high-level meeting with HWPL held in Oslo, Norway on the 16th of the same month, the former Prime Minister of Norway Kjell Magne Bondevik (70) said that he would offer his support and participation until North and South Korea sign a peace agreement and achieve unification.

On May 12, at the Pan-European Peace Forum held by HWPL in Frankfurt, Germany, the former local Councillor of the city of Frankfurt Manfred Florian Welker delivered a 'Letter of Support for the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula' to Chairman Lee.

In the letter, the former Councillor made reference to the situation on the Korean Peninsula, “Above all, given the current situation, it is not an exaggeration to say that the Korean Peninsula is in one of the most dangerous situations in the world. It is leading people to a life of fear.”

Mr. Welker, referring to HWPL's DPCW, said that "(DPCW) will be sufficient to solve these problems." He also wrote in the letter, “I strongly support the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula because it acknowledges the absurdity of the existence of a country that remains divided as a result of outdated events that occurred during the Cold War of the 1960s.”

At a Peace Forum held in Germany and Ukraine, government officials, civil society and youth and others recalled their own experiences of war and division, and wrote the 'Letter of Support for the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula' to HWPL. Letters were delivered to HWPL's visiting peace delegation, who were touring Europe.

A commemorative photo is taken of Shincheonji Chairman Man-hee Lee in front of the 'Declaration of Unification of Korea' monument

The spiritual leadership of Chairman Man-hee Lee is central to HWPL's peace movement for the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula. Chairman Lee's will for peaceful reunification is fully contained within the 'Declaration of Unification of Korea', which was proclaimed at an event commemorating the 65th anniversary of Korean Independence in 2010. Chairman Lee, who read the proclamation before 33 national representatives, urged the leaders of North and South Korea to unify as soon as possible through dialogue, emphasizing the fact that this is the will of the people, and demanding that they achieve “unification.”

At the same time, Chairman Lee demanded free movement between the two Koreas and the guarantee of freedom of religion. He predicted that through this, peaceful reunification of the North and the South could be achieved, and that religious unification and world peace could be achieved.

Chairman Lee, a veteran of the Korean War, said, “True liberation is achieved only when the two Koreas are united.''

In line with the wishes of veterans and divided families who attended the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, the declaration was carved into the monument in the shape of the Korean peninsular and is exhibited at The Peace Institute in Gapyeong.

[HWPL] Nations of Korean War and HWPL. Serial Posting 1. United States of America

[HWPL]

[HWPL] Nations of Korean War and HWPL. Serial Posting 1. United States of America

Year 2020 is the 70th anniversary of the Korean War which scarred the whole Korean peninsula in the 20th century. Two ideologies (democracy and communism) clashed on a small peninsula as 21 countries fought for the ideologies they followed and more than 50 countries helping one side with medical or financial support. All people struggled for the peace that they believed in, resulting in more than one million casualties. Today, Chairman Man Hee Lee and his peace groups (HWPL, IWPG and IPYG) are working together with people throughout the world for sustainable world peace. I begin these serial postings recalling the Korean War, paying respect to all those who fought and sacrificed their lives in the Korean War, and inform you how Mr. Man Hee Lee and his peace groups (HWPL, IWPG and IPYG) have been working for world peace and for future generations :)

Every week, I will write about one country that participated in the Korean War and how the country has been working together with Chairman Man Hee Lee and these peace groups for world peace :)

Today's country is the United States of America.

The United States of America dispatched 480,000 including General Douglas MacArthur, but suffered almost 20,000 casualties, including those missing and POWs. The USA is the first country to send reinforcements (Task Force Smith) and support South Korea after the war, both financially and medically. They comprised the majority of the United Nations Army in the Korean War.

Honorable Veterans of Korean War from the United States of America

Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL, who is also a veteran of the Korean War, underwent all kinds of cruelty and hardship in the Korean War and has been working for world peace since 2012. Contributing towards the efforts of Chairman Lee and HWPL, people in the United States of America have responded with great participation to HWPL's initiatives and events. Citizens of Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C. and more cities joined in the annual May 25th Peace Walk, The WARP (World Alliance of Religions and Peace) Office, the Legislate Peace campaign, 918 World Peace WARP (World Alliance of Religions' Peace) Summit. Moreover, some members of HWPL's International Law Peace Committee (which helped Chairman Man Hee Lee to draft and implement the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) come from the United States. Manhattan, Carson City and other cities in the United States of America even officially designated March 14th 'HWPL Day' to commemorate HWPL's Peace Work.

I'm certain and hopeful that people in the United States of America will keep working with Chairman Man Hee Lee and HWPL for world peace and a brighter future for future generations as they have done so far :)

[Peace news] Lest We Forget - Korean War Historical Sites

[Peace news] Lest We Forget - Korean War Historical Sites

The tragic Korean War erupted 69 years ago but its deep scars remain throughout the Korean peninsular. On June 25th, Hankuk Youth Daily reported on the number of historical Korean War sites within Korea, reminding people of the necessity and desire for a world of peace without wars.

6.25...Historical sites that remind pain of Korean War / Reporter Wongeuk Seo and Hyeonsoon Lee / June 24th 2019 / Hankuk Youth Daily / South Korea
1. Geoje Island POW Camp Memorial Park

Geoje Island POW Camp was built to accommodate Chinese and North Korean POWs and was the biggest POW camp in the days following World War 2.

2. Dabudong War Memorial Museum and Patriotic Bridge in Waegwan
Dabudong Chilgok and Waegwan Patriotic Bridge in Gyeongbuk province are locations for one of the fiercest battles that reversed the situation favorably for the UN and Korean Army during the Korean War, causing countless deaths of soldiers and citizens. It is true that the counteroffensive by the UN-Korean alliance against North Korea started from Dabudong battle and Incheon Landing Operation.

3. Memorial Hall for Incheon Landing Operation

I would say Koreans are indebted to General Douglas MacArthur and fellow soldiers (Koreans and non-Koreans) for a great victory in Incheon. Without the tremendous success of the Incheon Landing Operation, South Korea wouldn't possess its current territory and prosper.

4. Ulsan Public Park

Ulsan Public Park has a memorial monument and area for local soldiers (especially teenage soldiers) who fought in the Korean War.

5. Yongsan War Memorial Museum in Seoul

Yongsan War Memorial Museum in Seoul exhibits more than 9000 modern war history resources including the Korean War and the 'War Experience Room' where you can indirectly experience how cruel the war was. I remember when I visited this room as a youth - I was so disturbed by soldier mannequins with amputated legs squirting blood all over a medical mannequin opposite.

6. United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan, South Korea

The United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan, Korea, is the only UN cemetery in the world where soldiers from 11 countries who fought in the Korean War 'Rest In Peace'.

7. Yeoncheon Station Box Water Tower

The water tower that looks like a box in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi province covered with bullet marks as soldiers fought to occupy the water tower for survival and victory in the war.

8. Cheorwon Peace Observation Tower

Commemorative Monument for Victory of Battle of White Horse

At Cherwon Observation Tower, you can see White Horse Hill where its owner changed 24 times during the Korean War by Battle of White Horse. Moreover, you can observe Propaganda Village (a village in North Korea that was made to promote the benefits of living in North Korea) via telescope.

There are more historical Korean War sites that commemorate the atrocious history in Korea and the world. When we look through or visit these sites, what is important is to think why people build historical war sites. We have to commemorate past wars to perceive the many faults, greed and misjudgments that led to so many people - including youths - losing their lives in war.

Today, the world still suffers from wars and conflicts, which means people have not learn anything about past wars and conflicts. Humanity today desperately needs peace. In order to prevent the same thing from happening again in today's generation, we have to be educated and work together for  world peace, and not only remind ourselves of past wars.

Educate children to resolve problems and conflicts through peaceful discussion and harmony, not through violence and weapons. I hope you are on the same page with me :)

Peace!

서호 통일부차관 "DMZ를 평화의 중심지로" / Reporter Youngsin Jeon / BBS News / July 4th 2019 / South Korea

Mr. Ho Suh, Vice-Minister of Unification, said the government will develop the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone of Korea) into a center of peace that has historical, ecological and cultural contents with borderline municipal governments.

'DMZ Peace Operation Forum' was hosted at Cheorwon DMZ Peace Culture Square on July 4th, where the Vice-Minister announced key initiatives between the Koreas such as the meeting with the U.S, the withdrawal of General Border Post and an Excavation of Remains.

The remains of Taebong state found in Cheorwon 1100 years ago couldn't be excavated because it is in the middle of DMZ.

Mr. Ho Suh said: "Borderline cities will be centers of South-North Korean exchange and cooperation, and it will develop into 'Borderline Peace Prosperity Belt' which will be the foundation of the Korean peninsular's peaceful prosperous community."

[Peace News] Letter to President Moon and Chairperson Kim from a member of HWPL Supporters One

Dear President Moon and Chairperson Kim

Greetings, Mr. President and Mr. Chairperson of South and North Korea.

I'm a young man who lives in South Korea, working as a freelancer and actively running a blog about world peace and food as a member of HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light, Chairperson: Man Hee Lee) Supporters One.

I was not the kind of person who was interested in diplomacy and security in the Korean peninsula or in world peace, but just someone interested in personal success, money and 'living happily ever after'. Now you might be wondering why this person is writing this letter to you.

A few years ago, I was a staff sergeant working within the regiment of an infantry division with the responsibility of defending the border between South and North Korea, which we call 'GOP (General Outpost)' and DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). I had to experience so many tragic incidents that happened in the army and the cruel reality of the Korean peninsula.

Military weapons and armaments, which are supposed to protect us and the people of Korea, killed my fellow soldiers both accidentally and deliberately. These weapons were often used by people, hostile to others, to get rid of people or groups that they hated in the army. Missiles and rockets were aimed to the North from the South, and also from the South to the North to kill people who were once brothers and sisters. Korea had been one country till the 1950s, more than 7000 years since its existence. I asked myself 'Why did Korea have to be divided by war? Why do so many young adults have to sacrifice their lives in the army? What is this for?' No weapon or military force was helping make world peace but rather causing continuous conflicts and victims around the world.

Many times in the army, I was often afraid imagining my fellow soldiers and I dying from gunshots or being annihilated by missiles or bombs, along with the grimace of our families and loved ones who would have been in deep pain and sorrow.

DMZ, South Korea

After I finished my duty in the army, I started my life as a freelancer but didn't stop thinking about the reunification of Korea and world peace. One day, I came across an active peace group which established a peace agreement that ceased the Catholic-Muslim civil war in Mindanao, Philippines. This organisation turned out to be HWPL (which I now work for as a supporter).

Soon after, I heard that HWPL and Mr. Man Hee Lee had proclaimed the DPCW - 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War' - to end wars, conflict and military acts around the world. It has been drafted by prevalent international global experts to achieve world peace, and consists of 10 articles and 38 clauses covering 'Demilitarization', 'Reduction and prohibition of weapons manufacturing', 'Conflict resolution' and 'Spreading of peace culture'.

Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War
HWPL has been striving to introduce and enact the DPCW at the UN as a legally-binding international law with agreement from world leaders. If the DPCW is enacted at the UN, it will put the following articles into effect:

Article 1 - Prohibition of threat or use of force

Article 2- Reduce war potential and re-purpose weapons to benefit humanity

Article 6 - Settle international disputes through peaceful means

Article 9 - Promote peaceful coexistence amongst religious and ethnic groups

Article 10 - Spread a culture of peace

The DPCW will certainly guide humanity and global society towards stopping wars and violence, and resolve conflicts through peaceful means. It means no more men, women or youth will become victims of war and violence. What's more, wars will no longer ruin humanity and our world. Our children and future generations will learn how to maintain world peace through peaceful means. This must be the greatest legacy we can leave them.

Mr. Moon and Mr. Kim. As a proud citizen of Korea and a proud member of HWPL Supporters One, I strongly urge you to read the information about HWPL and the DPCW. No previous UN declaration or law has been able to cease wars and conflict, but Mr. Man Hee Lee and HWPL peace advocates proved that they can do it in Mindanao, Philippines. I have to tell you that HWPL's DPCW is the only answer that to resolving global wars and conflicts which no one else could settle.

The DPCW will soon be introduced to the UN and enacted as a legally-binding law within the global community. It needs your support and signature in order to be approved as new international law. I, again, strongly appeal to you, to sign it for world peace and for future generations, as other world leaders have done.

Any leader who doesn't sign the DPCW will not expose their desire for world peace, but for war, and our future descendants will remember their leader as someone who wanted war for personal gain.

I truly hope you make a wise decision for yourself, for us and for people all over the world :)

We can make our dream come true through the DPCW.

Thank you for reading my letter.

Sincerely,

Jerry Kim

[HWPL] 918 World Peace WARP Summit: Messages from Eastern Europe to the Korean peninsula

[HWPL]

[HWPL] 918 World Peace WARP Summit: Messages from Eastern Europe to the Korean peninsula

On the 16th and 20th of September - both before and after the 918 WARP Summit - HWPL and IPYG held special lectures under the topic 'The Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula'. The goal of HWPL and its DPCW is world peace and reunification of the Korea peninsula. Korea is officially a divided country with ongoing conflict so there won't be no country in the war (not internal conflicts) if Koreans finish their long lasting war since 1950.

Leaders who delivered the above topics included former presidents from Eastern European countries. Then, you might ask, 'What do Eastern European politicians have to do with peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula?'

The link of the article : https://bit.ly/2O0vRTf

Clauses of the World War 2 slashed the most countries of the world. Eastern European countries including Croatia and Romania also couldn't evade the threat of war. The Holocaust, Nazis, massacres, dictators and political chaos followed after the war. Soon communism from the Soviet Union conquered eastern European countries until the day they secured freedom by transitioning to democracy.

Korea's national tragedy had also begun with World War 2 and a conflict of ideologies. Colonization, exploitation and massacre during the Japanese colonial era damaged the country. Then the peninsula was divided into two through the domination of stronger countries and it has remained as South and North Korea till the present day after the Korean war. Moreover, Koreans will had to face ideological problems so they need the experience of countries which have converted from communism to democracy in order to achieve peaceful reunification.

War and ideological conflicts is the common denominator among eastern European countries and the two Koreas. Now, you are on the same page as I :)

Now back to the 16th and 20th :) The lecturer of the 16th was...

H.E. Ivo Josipović, the Former President of Croatia
Mr. Josipivić gave a lecture on the topic 'Path to Peace in the Korean Peninsula'. Mr. Josipivić, who is also a well-known musician in Croatia, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange between South and North Korea.

“I think music, especially traditional folk music that is derived from the same cultural roots, is a tool for sharing the same sentiments that are held by individuals from both sides of the border.....I believe that we can understand one another and accept each other’s differences through cultural exchanges, such as music and sports.”

He also spoke about the role of political leaders for world peace and the significance of an enactment of a legal-binding international law:

“Presenting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) to the United Nations as a resolution, with our intention to build peace in the world, is novel and important.”

Yes, I agree on what you said Mr. Josipović :)

At the next event, on the 20th of September, the lecturer was ...

H.E. Emil Constantinescu, the former president of Romania

Mr. Constantinescu shared his experience under communist rule and urged for the solidarity of people for freedom and democracy.

“I lived under a communist dictatorship that deprived the country and its citizens of freedom for 50 years. People were not allowed to move about freely and the political police monitored their private affairs, invading the privacy of all citizens........The atrocities of the two wars in the first half of the 21st century proved to be insufficient for leaders to understand that peace cannot be strengthened only by managing frozen conflicts,”

“The incredible lack of fear and the solidarity of people forced the dictator to flee and freedom was gained.....The answer regarding the future of freedom and democracy is the choice of each generation and, in the end, of each of us.”

He concluded his lecture with the importance of being conscious to world peace and peaceful reunification for every Korean.

“In order to achieve the peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula, leaders, politicians and even the youth must have the consciousness to achieve peace.”

As the final program of the event on the 20th, Mr. Man Hee Lee, who is the chairman of HWPL which created the DPCW, spoke the following words during his congratulatory message:

"The two leaders should hold hands in peace without having to feel the need to be noticed by any country in the world. We must achieve the peaceful reunification for the people of our country.”

"Now all people from all levels of society should become the messengers of peace to bring peace one step closer to us.”

My dear family of peace :) What more can I say? We need everyone to recover the damage caused by past history and to step forward to a bright future. It is not our future generation's duty - but ours - to finish now. World peace is the only way forward for a peaceful world.

Wherever the continent, all must be united as one for world peace :) 'Now' is the best time for it.

Peace!
