[HWPL] HWPL's Peace Letter 3

[HWPL]

[HWPL] HWPL's Peace Letter 3

Chairman ManHee Lee is the head representative of the global peace organization HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), which is striving for the enactment and implementation of the international peace law 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)'. The  DPCW is a legal instrument comprised of 10 articles and 38 clauses that can end wars and hostilities throughout the world. HWPL is also spreading a culture of peace and implementing peace education.

Chairman ManHee Lee experienced the cruelty and tragedy of war as a veteran of the Korean War. This is one of the reasons why he founded a global peace campaign as the head of HWPL. He has traveled the globe more than 35 times to meet and persuade politicians, legal experts, journalists, professors, peace activists, civil organization leaders, heads of tribes and others to unite them for the work of peace. The significant fruits borne out of his hard work are the World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Summit and HWPL Peace Committee. The DPCW was drafted and finalised by the HWPL Peace Committee.

How, you may wonder, do I know this? About 10 years ago, when I had just been discharged from military service, I came to know HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee while researching the topic of civil conflicts to satisfy my curiosity in ongoing global issues. At that time, the island of Mindanao in the Philippines was suffering from a major civil conflict that lasted more than 40 years, and Chairman ManHee Lee and HWPL resolved this conflict through non-violent means.

Chairman Lee brought an end to the conflict in Mindanao by holding a peace talk between the warring Catholic and Islamic groups. Before the talk, HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee held a Peace Walk to spread the culture of peace in Mindanao with the many locals who had gathered out of a desire for peace.

Chairman ManHee Lee's pressing appeal today is that humanity unites for sustainable peace in order to pass on the legacy of peace to future generations worldwide. He doesn't just talk peace, but has worked tirelessly for it through practical peace campaigns for over a decade.

I decided to become a supporter of HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee's peace initiatives because I also desire a world of peace for all posterity.

Today I'd like to introduce an article from HWPL official homepage regarding Peace Letter which is a part of HWPL's LP (Legislate Peace) Project :)

Communication and Cooperation for the Realization of the World of Peace

The handwritten peace letters, as part of the Peace Letter Campaign, promote peace awareness among citizens and highlight the important role that civil society plays as an active actor in the peacebuilding process. This campaign also strongly urges for support and implementation, at both the national and international levels, of a legal mechanism to ensure and maintain peace. In this way, campaign activities are being conducted based on continuous communication and cooperation between civil society and the government with the purpose of implementing the international law for peace.

Active Support from the International Community

Currently, government leaders and heads of international organizations and civil society leaders have received handwritten peace letters from citizens all over the world and are giving much support. The DPCW is being supported by various international organizations including the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN), the Pan-African Parliament and the International Centre for Black Sea-Baltic Studies and Consensus Practices (Centre BBS). Many leaders are now listening to the citizens’ calls for peace contained within the handwritten peace letters.

Youth from Around the World Holding Pens for Peace

Many youth and citizens from around the globe have informed national leaders from each country about the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and urged them to support its implementation through their handwritten peace letters in order for the DPCW to be developed into a legally binding international instrument. These handwritten peace letters are part of a voluntary peace campaign practiced by all members of civil society that can be easily participated in by any member of society.

Sign Your Support Campaign

HWPL is continuing to urge Member States of the UN to support the DPCW and its adoption by the UN. Please join our signature campaign so that your country can support the DPCW.

Signatures Will Play a Great Role

HWPL wants to show the power of the people by signing in support of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW). The 10 articles and the 38 clauses of the DPCW will prevent conflicts, allow international judicial bodies to carry out their full role as a mediator, and guarantee a sustainable world of peace.

If this kind of law is implemented all around the world, wars will no longer have a place on this earth, and peace will come to all areas that are suffering from conflict and bloodshed.

HWPL’s goal is to develop the DPCW into an international, legally binding instrument. People's support at this time will play a crucial role. Let's sign support for the DPCW!

We legislate peace to leave a legacy of peace for future generations

The “Legislate Peace” (LP) project is a global initiative to support and advocate for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and its implementation at the international level.
The LP project started off as the Sign Your Support campaign, which was launched to promote the value of the DPCW as a solution for achieving global peace and urge different sectors of society to support this declaration. The campaign expanded into various forms of peace events and activities tailored to regions around the world, including seminars, forums, peace walks, and education.

The LP project offers each individual in the global community the opportunity to become the agent for peace. Through a wide array of activities, global citizens are able to practice “Spreading a culture of peace,” Article 10 of the DPCW, in their respective locations. Anyone who wants peace can participate in leaving a legacy of peace for future generations through the LP project.

2. Training Peace Educators

Education should not just end in terms of delivering knowledge, but should continue to examine, teach, and help students until they make their own everything they have learned. For this, HWPL appoints local teachers and professors as peace educators and provide training to them regularly.

3. Peace Education Webinar

The Peace Education Webinar, which anyone interested in peace education can participate in, is a platform to share the current status of peace education and various ideas of peace educators around the world. Through various webinars conducted in different countries or even continents, they share news about peace education as well as various educational methods.

4. Peace Education Campaign

To overcome the public education crisis, educational inequality, and problem of student alienation caused by pandemic, HWPL is conducting the #TeachingGoesOn campaign with teachers all over the world. Through the campaign, they sympathize that the driving force behind the global education crisis lies with teachers who are the backbone of education, deliver consolation and love to teachers around the world, and discuss various ways to support teachers to overcome the crisis without losing courage. Even though schools are closed and have changed to online classes, teachers and students are getting closer by expressing love and trust to each other in various ways.
