Dear President Moon and Chairperson Kim

Greetings, Mr. President and Mr. Chairperson of South and North Korea.

I'm a young man who lives in South Korea, working as a freelancer and actively running a blog about world peace and food as a member of HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light, Chairperson: Man Hee Lee) Supporters One.

I was not the kind of person who was interested in diplomacy and security in the Korean peninsula or in world peace, but just someone interested in personal success, money and 'living happily ever after'. Now you might be wondering why this person is writing this letter to you.

A few years ago, I was a staff sergeant working within the regiment of an infantry division with the responsibility of defending the border between South and North Korea, which we call 'GOP (General Outpost)' and DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). I had to experience so many tragic incidents that happened in the army and the cruel reality of the Korean peninsula.

Military weapons and armaments, which are supposed to protect us and the people of Korea, killed my fellow soldiers both accidentally and deliberately. These weapons were often used by people, hostile to others, to get rid of people or groups that they hated in the army. Missiles and rockets were aimed to the North from the South, and also from the South to the North to kill people who were once brothers and sisters. Korea had been one country till the 1950s, more than 7000 years since its existence. I asked myself 'Why did Korea have to be divided by war? Why do so many young adults have to sacrifice their lives in the army? What is this for?' No weapon or military force was helping make world peace but rather causing continuous conflicts and victims around the world.

Many times in the army, I was often afraid imagining my fellow soldiers and I dying from gunshots or being annihilated by missiles or bombs, along with the grimace of our families and loved ones who would have been in deep pain and sorrow.

DMZ, South Korea

After I finished my duty in the army, I started my life as a freelancer but didn't stop thinking about the reunification of Korea and world peace. One day, I came across an active peace group which established a peace agreement that ceased the Catholic-Muslim civil war in Mindanao, Philippines. This organisation turned out to be HWPL (which I now work for as a supporter).

Soon after, I heard that HWPL and Mr. Man Hee Lee had proclaimed the DPCW - 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War' - to end wars, conflict and military acts around the world. It has been drafted by prevalent international global experts to achieve world peace, and consists of 10 articles and 38 clauses covering 'Demilitarization', 'Reduction and prohibition of weapons manufacturing', 'Conflict resolution' and 'Spreading of peace culture'.

Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War
HWPL has been striving to introduce and enact the DPCW at the UN as a legally-binding international law with agreement from world leaders. If the DPCW is enacted at the UN, it will put the following articles into effect:

Article 1 - Prohibition of threat or use of force

Article 2- Reduce war potential and re-purpose weapons to benefit humanity

Article 6 - Settle international disputes through peaceful means

Article 9 - Promote peaceful coexistence amongst religious and ethnic groups

Article 10 - Spread a culture of peace

The DPCW will certainly guide humanity and global society towards stopping wars and violence, and resolve conflicts through peaceful means. It means no more men, women or youth will become victims of war and violence. What's more, wars will no longer ruin humanity and our world. Our children and future generations will learn how to maintain world peace through peaceful means. This must be the greatest legacy we can leave them.

Mr. Moon and Mr. Kim. As a proud citizen of Korea and a proud member of HWPL Supporters One, I strongly urge you to read the information about HWPL and the DPCW. No previous UN declaration or law has been able to cease wars and conflict, but Mr. Man Hee Lee and HWPL peace advocates proved that they can do it in Mindanao, Philippines. I have to tell you that HWPL's DPCW is the only answer that to resolving global wars and conflicts which no one else could settle.

The DPCW will soon be introduced to the UN and enacted as a legally-binding law within the global community. It needs your support and signature in order to be approved as new international law. I, again, strongly appeal to you, to sign it for world peace and for future generations, as other world leaders have done.

Any leader who doesn't sign the DPCW will not expose their desire for world peace, but for war, and our future descendants will remember their leader as someone who wanted war for personal gain.

I truly hope you make a wise decision for yourself, for us and for people all over the world :)

We can make our dream come true through the DPCW.

Thank you for reading my letter.

Sincerely,

Jerry Kim

  1. Good article. Any president who refuses to sign the DPCW will expose their desire for war.
