[Trip] Photo Trip - Cherwon (Makguksu & Goseokjeong)

[Trip] Photo Trip - Cherwon (Makguksu & Goseokjeong)

A few months ago, on an autumn day in Korea, I went to Cheorwon on a two-day trip, after harvest, to visit my friend who is a farmer :)

As it was a warm day with a cool breeze and beautiful sunshine, I thought I'd share part of my trip with you.

The red rectangle shows the location of Cheorwon

Cheorwon Makguksu - Buckwheat cold noodle restaurant from the 1940s

Makguksu (Buckwheat cold noodle) is $8

Cheorwon is located in the middle of the northern-most point of South Korea, between Gyeonggi and Ganwon province, and has a notoriously cold and windy winter, but is popular for the habitat of migratory birds and the Hantangang River which holds precious geological and archeological value.

The first place that I visited was Cheorwon Makguksu, which is a famous buckwheat cold noodle restaurant in operation since the 1940s. It now run by the son and grandson of the founder of the restaurant with a traditional recipe from old times :)

Every makguksu restaurant serves noodle water before the noodle is served

Cheorwon-style spicy makguksu is served with its trademark sauce and plenty of cold meat stock

Goseokjeong was the second place I visited in Cheorwon. This is well-known as the hiding place of Im Kkeokjeong (?~1562) who was a righteous outlaw. Its beautiful and overwhelming grandiosity easily convinced me that it was a hiding place of the righteous outlaw Im Kkeokjeong :)

Bon Voyage!

[Trip] Photo Trip - My Favorite Cafés in Sokcho

[Trip]

[Trip] Photo Trip - My Favorite Cafés in Sokcho

Today is a rainy and cloudy day so although it may seem gloomy, rain makes a cup of coffee taste better than ever. So I've been on short coffee trips to Sokcho, Gangwon province with a good friend. There are a few excellent cafés in Sokcho - among my favorites - so I want to introduce them to you today with photos :)

1. Coffee Belt (커피벨트)

It's a good café to visit for an aromatic cup of joy with its variety of coffee beans. They do cold brew (also known as 'dutch') and hand-drip coffee. They always use fresh coffee beans with an exotic aroma and flavor :)

2. Another Blue (어나더블루)

Its name is 'Another Blue' but the taste of the coffee is not 'blue' :) Another Blue is famous for einspanner (an Austrian coffee with thick sweet cream on top), accompanied by lemon zest and great cakes :)

3. Sunsarogil (선사로길)

This is my favorite café in Sokcho which serves an excellent cup of einspanner with sweet, thick cream and a fine bakery :) I recommend their selection of pound cake and scone :)

Bon Voyage!

[Trip] Busan points of interest with City Tour Bus

[Trip]

Busan points of interest with City Tour Bus

Must Visit Busan Attractions

I boarded the Jumbo tour bus in front of Busan Station and bought myself a Day Pass ticket.
I was given a red paper bracelet.  The Busan Tour bus was a double-decker.  It sure is great to look out from the second floor and with all the usual beautiful scenery.

The first stop on the Busan Jumbo tour was at the White Rife Culture Village.  This place is known as a famous filming location for Korean movies.
When I walked into this village, it was wonderful to be able to see the blue ocean view as well as the white wall with crafted tiles.
There was also the sweet wood carving of a gull and flowers.  The great walls truly added to the beauty and quiet atmosphere of the entire scenery.

After 30 minutes, I went back to the very place where I got off the bus.  The following next bus was approaching which to me to my next stopping place.

That place was the Sky Observatory!
It's at a good location if you wanted to look down at the cool, nice, blue sea of Busan.
Then, I walked down the stairs to the cliff and there was a esplanade.

The next stop had the entire tour's best highlights!

This was at Taejongdae Park where there is a marine cliff with the forest and amazing rocks which  can be seen with also stores nearby.
By the way, this place has been chosen as one of the Top 100 Must See Places in all of South Korea.  Moreover, it too has been called a Must See Place when visiting Busan.

Once you get there, you have the option to climb up or take a Danubi train to the very top.
Despite visiting there on a weekday, there were lots of people there.  Therefore, I had to wait for some time when it came to purchasing tickets.
The ticket prices are as follows currently:
3,000KRW (won) for adults, 2,000KRW (won) for youths and 1,500KRW (won) for children.
The Danubi train operates at an interval of 20 minutes.

I did get to the Observatory of Taejongdae Park.  It was a clear day and so I could see the sight.  It was amazing!
I wondered what the VR Zone on third floor was like since there were these VR experience zones.

Anyways, I was starving some and was quite hungry since I went on this tour from the early morning hours without having eaten anything.
And so, I decided to check out the OCEAN LOUNGE which is where the Observatory is located.  Well, there at the lounge, they had coffee, cake, etc.

But the best thing about the place was their steak.  It looked so juicy and tender!  It looked delicious!  So tasty looking that I just had to take a picture of it!
Later, I got to enjoy and absolutely loved the window view which was all ocean!  I took a look out at all the beautiful scenery as I dined.  Afterwards, I felt I sure did eat with a good grace.

Eventually, I left to the next place.  Anyways, I must get going for the moment but I will make sure to post next time!  As always, thank you so much for reading my writings!^^

[Trip]

Travel tips for Busan, Korea

Busan City Tour Bus

Today, I want to introduce travel tips for touring Busan easily.

Even though I have lived in Korea for years, it has been my first time in visiting Busan.
Busan is the second largest city in all of South Korea.
So it was not an easy trip for me to handle. But, I realized that there were easy ways to get around Busan.

Most of it had to do with using the Busan City Tour Bus!
There are 3 types of tour buses:

1.The Jumbo Bus
2.Mandi Bus
3.Eco Bus

I wanted to take them all, but didn't have enough time to do so.
I chose the Busan City Tour Jumbo Bus course.

Here is the Jumbo Bus Route map course.

It is closed on all Mondays (operates normally only if Monday happens to be a national holiday)
You can purchase tickets at Busan Station Bus Stop.
Boarding location is Busan Station Plaza in front if Arirang Tourist Hotel.
(Subway 1st Line : Exit No.8 at Busan Subway Station~Train : Exit No.1 at Busan Station)

Here is Jumbo Bus Fare information...

The first bus at Busan Station is at 9AM. The last bus at Busan Station is 6PM.(November through April at 5:30pm).
Departure interval is 30 minutes. The buses operate 19 times.

When you purchase a day pass, you can freely hop off at our bus stop for personal sightseeing during the city tour and hop on our next bus to continue the tour according to the bus timetable.

Here are the pictures that I took with the Busan City Tour Jumbo Bus.

I'd like to introduce each attraction next time on my blog.
You can also enjoy various Busan tourism contents through the app of Busan City Tour Jumbo Bus.

Here is the site, you can get more information!  http://jumbobus.kr/en/

[Trip] Best of Cairns, Australia Tourism

[Trip]

Best of Cairns, Australia Tourism

Paradise of Activity, Cairns, Australia

I've been Cairns, Australia, a place that is called the Paradise of Activity.
It took me two hours to travel from Brisbane to Cairns by plane.
It was sunny as expected.

There were a lot of tourist attractions.
My first stop in Cairns was Explanade Lagoon, a populartourist attraction of Cairns.
Explanade Lagoon was placed at the end of the beach.
It is man-made lagoon, but it is free and you can enjoy swimming there.
It is very famous place in Cairns. Whoever visits Cairns should visit here and take pictures.

The next day,
I left for Tully River to go rafting.
Actually, I didn't expect much, but it was a very wonderful experience for me.
They offered Half Day Program and Full Day Program.
And you can select the difficulty level of your rafting program.
It was safe and exciting.
Lunch was included in the price of the program.
I had lunch with people near the water.

It might be sad that if I couldn't take any pictures. But luckily, there was a photographer in the middle of the rafting course. He took the pictures for us and I could get higher quality pictures.

On the third day, I went to The Great Barrier Reef; the one place you should visit before you die.
I got seasick so it was hard, but I could still see the beautiful ocean.
The Great Barrier Reef was so beautiful!

I could scuba dive along the coral reefs and go snorkeling.
On that day, I had a delicious lunch at the buffet, which included meals on the tour.

I recommend visiting the beautiful Cairns where you can do many other activities.
