[HWPL] 9th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace was held Online!

[HWPL]

[HWPL] 9th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace was held Online!

To tackle the current threat of war and conflict on life and peace, HWPL’s 9th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace was held online on Wednesday (May 25).
With 3,000 representatives from politics, religion, academia, media and civil society, this event, which was held under the theme of “Institutionalizing Peace: Realizing the Collective Will for Peace”, presented the progress achieved thus far through the global effort of groups for the realization of sustainable peace that will be guaranteed by a legal instrument, according to a press release.
The host organization, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), proclaimed the Declaration of World Peace in 2013. The Declaration has secured the endorsement of national leaders, the engagement of women and youth, the cooperation of civil societies, and the expansion of media peace coverage. It was later developed into an international legal instrument, in the form of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), for the purpose of realizing global peace.
Young Min Chung, the General Director of International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), an affiliate organization of HWPL, said in his progress report, “730,000 citizens from 176 countries have signed in support of the DPCW over the past nine years, allowing them to voice their opinions in the most direct way. Recently, IPYG has been running its Youth Empowerment Peace Workshop (YEPW), where key matters are discussed, including education, human rights, and conflict prevention and resolution, and they are also carrying out joint action and making policy proposals.“
The 10 articles and 38 clauses of the DPCW include conflict prevention and resolution, gradual reduction of war potential and repurposing weapons into daily tools for humanity, promoting peaceful coexistence amongst religious and ethnic groups, and spreading a culture of peace. The Declaration is geared towards engaging governments, international organizations, NGOs, and everyday citizens to take steps for a peaceful world.
With regards to collaborating for peacebuilding, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL appealed to participants to be united as “messengers of peace to bring freedom and peace to future generations.” Chairman Lee said, “This time (Russia) invaded Ukraine and started the war. This is why HWPL and our family of peace have long called for the establishment of international law to eliminate war potential. Therefore, we gathered experts in international law…and formed the Declaration with its 10 articles and 38 clauses.”
As one example of resolving conflict through peaceful means in India, MOUs were signed among religious leaders to further gain an understanding of the other's religion based on a comparative study of one's respective scriptures. In particular, the partnership between HWPL and the World Organization of Religions and Knowledge (WORK) in Rampur led to the erection of a peace monument to convey the values of peace to local citizens.
Educators’ participation in peace-related activities was also introduced during the event. Metaverse was demonstrated as a virtual global teaching platform that enables students to experience peace by reading materials and observing diverse peace activities as they are carried out in many parts of the world.
One student said, “I learned the need for an international law to achieve peace. We need a law that can achieve peace. It is important that people abide by the law and if all people become citizens of peace, we would not even need the law.”
Supalak Ganjanakhundee, Visiting Fellow at the Pridi Banomyong International College of Thammasat University, Bangkok, and former Editor of The Nation (Thailand) spoke during the peace journalist report, saying that the foundation of peace is closely related to a democracy that provides an open channel that “allows the participation of civil society” for peace. Expounding on the current deadlock of the peace process in Southern Thailand, he said, “(A)ny peace process that would lead to lasting peace must address the problem at its root cause and must be conducted along the democratization with the intensive participation of not only stakeholders but also civil society.”
HWPL has been collaborating for peace both on an international and domestic level by garnering the support of global organizations for the DPCW and working hand in hand to reinforce international norms to realize peace. With civil organizations, HWPL has been carrying out activities for the public good to ensure that peace can take root.

[HWPL] 8th Anniversary of the January 24th HWPL Peace Day was held in the Philippines!

 [HWPL]

[HWPL] 8th Anniversary of the January 24th HWPL Peace Day was held in the Philippines!

An international online peace conference was held to celebrate the 8th anniversary of a civilian-led peace agreement in Mindanao on the 24th of January. The day was designated as the HWPL Peace Day by the Province of Maguindanao and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in the Philippines.

The event, under the theme of “Law of Peace in Heaven and on Earth” gathered more than 2,000 social representatives. In addition, this event served as a venue to raise public support for establishing an international law for peace based on the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and to promote interfaith harmony between religions.

The host organization, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), is a non-governmental organization associated with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC). Since 2013, the organization has been committed to various peace activities for world peace and the cessation of war.

HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee visited the Philippines to contribute to the peace-building efforts in Mindanao starting with the peace agreement made on January 24th, 2014 between the Islam and Catholic communities through Hon. Esmael G. Mangudadatu, the then Governor of Maguindanao and Archbishop-Emeritus Fernando Capalla of the Archdiocese of Davao. Through the agreement, the Province of Maguindanao established January 24th every year as HWPL Peace Day in 2015 and built the first peace monument in the Philippines.

Since then, annual commemorative events such as grand peace festivals and interfaith conferences were continued to celebrate the peace agreement and raise awareness of peace among citizens in the Mindanao region. On the 2nd anniversary of the civilian-led peace agreement on January 24th, 2016, the unveiling ceremony of HWPL Peace Monument was held inside MILF's Camp Darapanan in Sultan Kudarat, Mindanao, while January 24th was also declared as a Peace Day by Hon. Ahod Ebrahim, Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The event’s main speakers were Justice Raoul Victorino (ret), Chairman of the Philippine National Prayer Breakfast (PNPB), Prabhu Mahendra Das, Temple President of Sri Sri Radha Madhava Mandir, and Dr. Ronald Adamat, Commissioner of the Commissioner on Higher Education (CHED). Also, representatives from different sectors including law, education, youth, women, media, and more presented commitment messages towards peace.

[IPYG] IPYG Shout for Peace with Youth of Serbia

IPYG (International Peace Youth Group - an NGO under Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) and Bečejsko Udruženje Mladih co-hosted a Peace Letter campaign and Peace Walk festival to commemorate the 6th Anniversary of the Declaration of Peace from May 16th to 20th at Bačko Gradište and Liberty Square, Bečej, in South Bačka District, Serbia.

IPYG reported that over 700 youth and students from all around Serbia gathered at the Peace Walk festival, urging their head of state to support the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War).

Aleksandar Đekić, president of Bečejsko Udruženje Mladih, who experienced the wars in Croatia and Bosnia as a child, said that IPYG's DPCW drove him to carry out innovative work in society. Moreover, IPYG and his organization co-hosted the event to raise awareness of the DPCW and world peace.

Gordana Adamov, BUM Public Relations, stressed the significance of the Peace Letter campaign, saying :

"...We had a great discussion about Articles in DPCW and think some parts of it are very optimistic when we consider the politics of our president. Now, we realize that even though it seems impossible to get a response from the Serbian president, the best way to be sure of that is to try and to write letters."

I think that more and more people are working together with HWPL for the DPCW to be enacted as international law. This is very obvious given that everyone wants a peaceful world. No one wants war :)

World Peace? Yes We Can!

[HWPL] HWPL Hosted The 5th Intercontinental Online WARP Office Meeting! - What Religious Texts Tell you about "Creation"

[HWPL]

[HWPL] HWPL Hosted The 5th Intercontinental Online WARP Office Meeting! - What Religious Texts Tell you about "Creation"

On April 20th, HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light. Chairman: ManHee Lee) hosted its 5th Intercontinental Online WARP Office Meeting entitled "What Religious Texts Tell you about 'Creation'". HWPL's WARP Office has been hosting its interfaith dialogue meetings in many world cities in order to foster greater understanding and tolerance among religions to reduce religiously-rooted conflicts.

HWPL's WARP Office meetings are usually held within each HWPL branch where religious leaders are invited to engage in face-to-face dialogue on a topic set by HWPL. HWPL's WARP Offices also regularly hold video conferences for prominent religious leaders living in different continents, helping them discuss topics with one another regardless of 'geographical status'. These online meetings also give more opportunity for viewers to directly ask questions to religious leaders and participate in the meeting.

Since HWPL's first WARP Office meeting in 2014, it has now grown to having 250 offices in 128 countries. Countless religious leaders from all over the world have participated in WARP Offices and promised that they will continue to engage in discussion at the WARP Office to better understand other religions for the cause of world peace.

The topic for the 5th Intercontinental Online WARP Office meeting was "What Religious Texts Tell you about 'Creation'". Religious leaders answered questions about 'creation' using their respective scriptures.

The first question was, "Was the universe made by itself? Or is there a God or entity who created it?"

The Christian, Hindu and Muslim faiths answered 'God created the universe', while the Buddhist faith said, 'Buddhism doesn't know when or where the world began, but it does know that the cycle of creation and destruction repeats itself perpetually. And Karma (retribution for deeds carried out in one's former life) determines that creation's form in the next life.'

The 2nd question the MC asked panelists was, 'Where did the seed of life come from? And from where did life originate?'

Again the Christian, Muslim and Hindu leaders answered, 'It is from One God, who gives life to all creation', but the Hindu leader replied, 'Life is a spiritual cosmos (wave)'. The Christian leader also answered 'Life is God's seed'.

Meanwhile, the Buddhist leader said, 'There are 7 suns in the world. Each sun has been created and destroyed for each time. The 7th is the last sun of the world. And all life, including humanity, keeps changing in form depending on what kind of Karma they have done in previous life per sun.'. The monk also added, 'Only good thinking and behavior can stack good Karma, and this good Karma can change your next life.'.

It was interesting to see the Christian, Hindu and Muslim faiths sharing very similar perspectives, while the Buddhist faith had its own unique theory.

The last question was, 'What do you think about scientific theories and opinions towards creation?'

All panelists agreed that 'Religion and Science can not be compared with one another because they are incompatible. The difference is that religion can guide people onto a good path while science can only explain the principles of nature.'

All religions share similar or different points of view on each topic and question posed, but they were all grateful that they could participate in the WARP Office. Moreover, they said that they wanted to work towards achieving world peace via WARP Office's interfaith dialogue :)

I participated in the meeting online and was very interested to hear each panelist's opinion and see the interaction between panelists and the audience. The audience asked them questions about the topic which panelists kindly answered and explained :)

I thought to myself that, even though we all have different thoughts and beliefs, we can someday become one in the pursuit of world peace through open, kind and peaceful dialogue :)

Peace Education is one of HWPL's main initiatives (Chairperson: Mr. Man Hee Lee) that aims to teach students of all ages (Elementary to University) the spirit and skills needed to resolve conflicts in a peaceful way. It also guides them to respect and learn about the values of human rights, intercultural understanding, freedom of religion and positive outcomes for world peace.

Efua Hayford, international liaison from HWPL, said :

“There will be different activities to understand the experience of each individual child. So, we will have scenarios so that they can play out if this is a situation that happens how they would resolve it. And then we will do an outdoor activity to see the different life experience that each child has been through. So, we will ask them if they have ever experienced violent aggression or if they have experienced verbal aggression. And each child will walk forward and at the end they can look around and see what their different classmates have been through and to understand the perspective of each other.”

[HWPL] HWPL and Mr. Man Hee Lee plan to visit Cambodia in Feb

[HWPL]

[HWPL] HWPL and Mr. Man Hee Lee plan to visit Cambodia in Feb

Original Article : http://khmeread.com/posts/37692

Today I bring you a short article from Cambodia for you. Cambodia is a country near Thailand, Laos and Vietnam in South-Eastern Asia, very famous for Angkor Wat :)

Angkor Wat

However, Cambodia also has a very tragic and cruel history with its 'Killing Fields' during the Communist Revolution by Democratic Campuchia that killed countless Cambodians in the 1970s.

Skulls of victims of 'Killing Field'

Read the sign at the left.... so sad and cruel... :(

I think that is why Cambodia supports HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of the Light. Chairman: Mr. Man Hee Lee) and Mr. Man Hee Lee, who has drafted the DPCW (Declaration of Peace, Cessation of War) as the only answer for world peace.

Mr. Man Hee Lee in the article
Such tragic history in the memory of Cambodians must have driven them to pursue world peace and a peaceful culture. KhmerRead reported that HWPL's peace messengers and Mr. Man Hee Lee will visit Cambodia this February to meet the country's head monk, educational experts and other dignitaries.

HWPL announced that Mr. Man Hee Lee and its peace messengers will deliver the message of peace to Cambodians through national broadcasting stations.

Cambodia is one of the countries which has signed an M.O.U. to receive HWPL's peace education, meaning the country thoroughly understands the significance of peace culture and education for their youth.

HWPL hopes to raise awareness of world peace in Cambodia so that they can also participate in the 'Legislate Peace Campaign' to help enact the DPCW at the UN in the near future.

Writer's comment : I think that Cambodians understand the importance of peace education and peace culture because of their painful history, like Koreans do. I hope HWPL and Mr. Man Hee Lee achieve a wonderful result for world peace :)

[HWPL] Peace Journalist Meeting in Katmandu -The First Nepal Media Forum for Peace Journalism-

[HWPL]

[HWPL] Peace Journalist Meeting in Katmandu

-The First Nepal Media Forum for Peace Journalism-

Original Article : https://bit.ly/2W9n1mp

HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light. Chairman: Mr. Man Hee Lee) has been carrying out initiatives for world peace. Spreading peace news and culture is one of them. To this end, HWPL has been liaising international reporters and journalists for world peace and Mr. Man Hee Lee believes that the press has a very significant role to play in the accomplishment of world peace.

HWPL media peace forums have been hosted in 22 countries around the world so far, and the first local HWPL media peace forum was held in Nepal.

On 19th of January, the 1st Nepal media peace forum entitled "Voice of Press Media Forum in Nepal for Peace Journalism: Peace Initiative" was held in Kathmandu, Nepal, by HWPL's public relations department, in cooperation with Nepalese journalists.

That day, HWPL introduced 3 main peace initiatives, which are :

- International law for peace

- Interfaith Dialogue

- Peace education

Moreover, the forum included :

- Presentations on peace journalism by 5 Nepalese journalists

- Discussions on ways to participate in the promotion of the Peace Initiative in Nepal

The Chief Executive Producer of Janata Television, Deependra Bikram Tamang, spoke about HWPL's peace work, which is 'Legislate Peace Campaign' for the introduction of the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of war). The producer added :

"Now it is the responsibility of the media to create an environment for the implementation of peace law through raising peoples' awareness for peace"

HWPL's media peace forum is aimed  at delivering continual peace news in order to nurture a culture of peace and human rights values around the world. It helps all journalists who want to work for world peace and build stronger ties transcending border, race and religion.

Laxman D. Pant, Track Nepal of the Media Action Nepal, said :

"Media people have a great role to play spreading peace and denouncing war. They are the real messengers of peace. Negative news tends to be reported more prominently than positive ones in Nepal. But Peace Initiative is spreading news of peace making a positive effect on societies."

That day, participants all agreed that the movement of peace journalism via HWPL's media forum is needed in Nepal. Piya Ratna Maharjan, President of Track Nepal and the co-organizer of the 1st Nepal Media Forum added:

"All Nepalese media people should be given an opportunity to hear about P.I. (Peace Initiative) and to jointly work for making a positive influence on society by spreading news of peace"

Writer's comment : I think that the press has an irreplaceable and crucial role in making world peace. That's why HWPL and Mr. Man Hee Lee have been continually encouraging and hosting numerous conferences and forums for the international press, reporters and journalists. People are most influenced by news and the press; therefore, I think that every media personnel must become a Peace Initiator who delivers peace news and positive thoughts about building world peace so that more people can get involved in this work and support world peace :) Good job Nepal!

[IWPG] Commemorative Ceremony for Ms. Ji-In Gu (Victim of Coercive Conversion)

[IWPG]

[IWPG] Commemorative Ceremony for Ms. Ji-In Gu (Victim of Coercive Conversion)

Greetings, Family of Peace :)

Today I am bringing you some brief news about basic human rights, specifically regarding religious freedom :)

On 27th November 2017, IWPG (International Women’s Peace Group) and World Women's Peace and Human Rights Committee co-hosted a commemorative ceremony for Ms. Ji-In Gu - a victim of coercive conversion - simultaneously throughout many cities in Korea.

Article by reporter Jongsik Hwang, Gukje news, Korea

Ms. Ji-In Gu was kidnapped by her parents with the intention of converting her in January 2018. Her parents imprisoned her at a Catholic monastery in South Jeonra province and took her to a coercive conversion program run by pastors of Christian Cult Counselling of Korea. However, Ms. Gu was suffocated to death while she was struggling to escape from her family.

Well, the point is that this case is not the first death resulting from coercive conversion. The coercive conversion program is a compulsory program of indoctrination that is aimed to convert someone's religion to another religion. This is mainly carried out by protestant pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) against new or smaller denominations in Korea. Pastors aggravate parents’ anxiety by telling them their child has fallen into a cult, and ask them to 'donate' (pay money) if they want to save their child from the cult. In reality, pastors manipulate parents into bringing their child to the coercive conversion program through force as a way to evade legal punishment when the process fails.

According to Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs (HRAVCCP), more than 1000 cases of coercive conversion have been carried out from 2003-2017, causing two deaths, including Ms. Ji-In Gu. Moreover, victims have suffered from imprisonment, threats, indoctrination, kidnap, violence and even enforced hospitalization in psychiatric wards.

Citizens have been continually burning incense and laying out white chrysanthemums for Ms. Ji-In Gu at 40 group memorial altars throughout Korea. Its hosts announced "We want to resolve this victim's deep sorrow - someone who died because of her religion - and also wish to spread the painful news about the continued ignorance of human rights in Korea."

On that day, IWPG and World Women's Peace and Human Rights Committee carried out a signature-collecting campaign for 'Closure of Korean Cult Counselling Office', 'Legal Punishment of Coercive Conversion Pastors' and 'Prohibition of Religious Discrimination', and distributed leaflets for their campaign.

Personally, I have to admit that Korea is still under-developed when it comes to human rights. It is so shameful that people constantly suffer from religious discrimination and coercive conversion. Coercive conversion is a barbaric, anachronistic programme that supresses religious diversity and freedom. It must be put to an end. I hope everyone can urge the government to put an end to this.

Deepest condolences for victims of coercive conversion. R.I.P Ms. Ji-In Gu.

[HWPL] Peace Education for the Youth in Four Countries

[HWPL]

[HWPL] Peace Education for the Youth in Four Countries

Greetings, Family of Peace! :)

Today I have brought wonderful news for the future generations of the world!

Indian News Link, India, 13/10/2018
HWPL and its chairman, Mr. Man Hee Lee, have been working on the establishment of a peace education curriculum which has already been implemented in several countries for many years.

"HWPL INTRODUCED PEACE EDUCATION TO PROMOTE THE CULTURE OF PEACE. THUS FAR, ABOUT 165 EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN 12 COUNTRIES, INCLUDING THE UNITED STATES, INDIA, ISRAEL, INDONESIA, AND THE PHILIPPINES HAVE REPORTEDLY OFFERED THE PROGRAMME."

It's amazing, isn't it? 165 educational institutions in 12 countries. Then what made these educational professionals think that HWPL's peace education could be so significant for their country?

CHED Commissioner Dr Ronald Adamat of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in the Philippines answered :

"STUDENTS WOULD LEARN TO UPHOLD THE PRINCIPLE OF ‘UNITY IN DIVERSITY’ AND EMBRACE THE DIFFERENCES AMONGST PEOPLE. THEY WILL BE EQUIPPED WITH KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTITUDES, AND VALUES IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND PEACE WORK AND BE FURTHER ENCOURAGED TO WORK FOR THE CESSATION OF WARS, HOSTILITIES, AND DISUNITY."

Peace education will teach children how to consider peaceful resolutions in place of fighting and wars when they encounter conflict growing up. The education they learn will be inscribed into their hearts (I hope) and they will become citizens of peace.

This year, new educational M.O.Us were signed between HWPL and four countries :

Guatemala

Cambodia

Sri Lanka

Iraq

That day, Mr. Man Hee Lee, the chairman of HWPL, urged educators on by saying :

"AT THIS TIME, THE WORLD IS CRYING OUT FOR PEACE SINCE IT IS SURROUNDED BY WARS. THE WORLD IS DEVELOPING WEAPONS OF DESTRUCTION RATHER THAN DEVELOPING A CULTURE OF PEACE. CHILDREN TAKE AFTER THEIR PARENTS AND CONFORM TO THEIR ENVIRONMENT. THEY SHOULD LEARN PEACE FROM THEIR HOMES AND SCHOOLS. THEN, OUR NEXT GENERATION WILL INHERENTLY BE BORN AS PEACE MESSENGERS IN AN ENVIRONMENT OF PEACE"

I really agree that children 'should learn peace from their homes and schools'. They will surely keep world peace :) Forever. I wish that all schools in the world will accept HWPL's peace education and teach children world peace :)

[HWPL] 918 World Peace WARP Summit : Questions for Mr. Man Hee Lee and HWPL

[HWPL]

[HWPL] 918 World Peace WARP Summit : Questions for Mr. Man Hee Lee and HWPL

Greetings! Family of Peace :)

Today, I’m bringing you a short article about the 918 World Peace WARP Summit. Among thousands of participants, there was much press including reporters and journalists gathering news about HWPL, the 918 World Peace WARP Summit and the DPCW. On behalf of these wonderful messengers of peace, HWPL hosted the official Press Conference for the 2018 HWPL World Peace Summit for the press to ask many questions to chairman Man Hee Lee, and to HWPL, IWPG and IPYG.

Enthusiastic questions bombarded the conference room as reporters and journalists raised their hands restlessly. Questions from participants at the conference reflected their serious interest in HWPL and in Mr. Man Hee Lee. Let's take a look at some of these questions :)

What impact will this year’s HWPL World Peace Summit have on security and peace in the world?
Mr. Nam Gyeong Won, Sunday Newspaper
Women are so important in the creation of a world for women. IWPG has a huge impact in Asia but this is also particularly true in Africa, especially Nigeria. How do you plan to further expand your IWPG activities when you are working outside of Asia?
Mr. Nazeeb Sulayman Ibraheem, FRCN Radio Nigeria

IPYG collected about 100,000 letters supporting the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula. First, how did you motivate young people to participate in the project? Second, how did the government respond to the peaceful activities of the young people? Third, I wonder what the government should do after hearing the voices of the young people.
Mr. Taehoon Kim, News Free zone
What can I do as a media personal to encourage people to be more actively involved in not only their communities and neighborhoods, but even in their own homes to ensure that peace is a reality in our future?
Ms. Audrey N. Kenner, CAN TV

Questions were addressed to HWPL, IWPG, IPYG and the participants (the press) themselves :) They wanted to know how the work of world peace has been carried out and what they can do for it. I think that the duty of the press for world peace is to spread and deliver peace news in their country. This way, it will urge people from all classes in that country to support the world peace campaign and DPCW of HWPL. I'm sure that the participants’ coverage will gather more people for the work of world peace. :)

I haven't written in the answers above because I want you yourselves to find out what the answers for each question are. Now, come with me :) Don't hesitate, the path to peace is upon you :)
