[HWPL] HWPL's Peace Work Becomes a Textbook for the World Peace..."Let's Learn Peace Culture"

[HWPL] HWPL's Peace Work Becomes a Textbook for the World Peace..."Let's Learn Peace Culture"

Article 10 of the 10 articles of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) promoted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man-Hee Lee) is becoming a reality all over the world. Schools from various countries that support HWPL's peace education have signed MOUs and MOAs to participate in peace education. On September 20th 2018, at the parade to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the World Peace Summit, the HWPL Gangwon Branch performed with the theme, 'Eternal Heritage Peace Education'.

On December 2nd 2015, Chairman Man-Hee Lee attended the “HWPL Peace School Designation Ceremony” hosted by Israel's Mar Elias School and held the unveiling ceremony of the “HWPL Peace School” with President Mar Elias.

The United Nations (UN), an international organization, was established to prevent war and to maintain peace, but war continues in many parts of the world. Despite the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) that has hit the world, indiscriminate bombing and looting are acting as greater threats than the virus in regions where war has broken out.

For example, in the case of Ethiopia, where civil war is still going on, thousands of people have been killed in the war in the last month, and 950,000 people have become refugees and are scattered.

The answer to peace that can prevent such innocent sacrifices. What is the solution? The 'Peace movement' shown by HWPL is particularly noteworthy as it provides clear answers to such questions as a civil organization that no global or government organization has achieved

The international civil peace organization,'Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man-Hee Lee)', with an important answer to achieve peace, proposes, 'Peace Education to Cultivate Peace Messengers and Spread a Culture of Peace'. By signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with more than 214 educational institutions in 34 countries, including Kosovo, HWPL has made remarkable achievements in enabling peace education not only in elementary, middle and high schools, but also in universities.

Man-Hee Lee, founder of HWPL and a Korean War veteran, said, “Let's build a world of peace without war and pass it on as a legacy to future generations." He took the lead in the peace education project.

Most of the time, humanity wishes for peace, but in reality, schools in each country do not even have a subject called “peace”. It is the current state of mankind today that even though international organizations have been established to achieve peace, they do not even teach peace to children who are “future protagonists”.

HWPL Peace Schools established around the world can lay the groundwork for educating on appropriate and just treatment for all humanity by internalizing the importance and value of life and cultivating respect for oneself and others through peace education. This makes it possible for students to play an important role in overcoming hostile situations caused by differences in nationality, ethnicity, religion, culture and ideology.

HWPL Peace School also teaches students the norms necessary to maintain peaceful coexistence within their communities and helps them build a peaceful mindset. Through this, we can understand the method of harmonious coexistence which enables us to respond peacefully in various situations.

The reason why HWPL's peace education can have such a great effect is that it is not only in words, but the fact that HWPL's peace movement, which Chairman Lee has initiated and implemented, is used as the basis for education. A case study is the peaceful settlement of the 50-year religious armed conflict on Mindanao Island, Philippines, which was achieved by Chairman Lee's direct mediation.

Chairman Man-Hee Lee, who is the Chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light, visited Mindanao Island on January 24 to 25 in 2014, and led the mediation of the Catholic-Islamic conflict, which had been ongoing for about 40 years, and signed a peace agreement (above). Previously, Chairman Lee met with former Prime Minister of East Germany  Lothar de Mazière in the first World Peace Trip, and President Jacob Zuma of South Africa in the third World Peace Trip, presenting a vision for world peace and asked for their participation (from the left)

In the Philippines, ethnic disputes, centered on the island of Mindanao, had not ceased for 50 years. Muslims who were  persecuted as a minority group in the Philippines which is more than 80% Catholic, formed the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and have fought armed struggles for segregation and independence. In the process, as many as 150,000 people died.

Chairman Lee visited Mindanao Island in the Philippines in January 2014, met with local leaders, including state and religious representatives, to propose an end to inter-religious conflict, which was the core reason for the conflict, and successfully led the civilian Catholic-Islamic peace agreement. After that, peace was finally realized as a peace agreement was signed between the government forces and the MILF, which is the largest armed force in Mindanao.

HWPL signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for ‘Peace Education’ with the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in February 2018. CHED is an educational governmental institution responsible for higher education. CHED promised to introduce the peace education course and textbooks produced by HWPL through an MOA after coordinating them with the local education system in the Philippines.

Chairman Man-Hee Lee of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) (third from left) and Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) officials signed a “peace education” MOA on January 23rd 2018.

HWPL's peace education was also passed on to the United States. In January 2018, HWPL signed an MOU with Golds Academy in Anaheim, California to provide peace education programs in Los Angeles, USA. At this meeting, HWPL Chairman Man-Hee Lee emphasized, "Every school and teacher must educate students about peace. At this point, we must achieve peace within the global community."

At the 'Global Peace Education Development Forum' held in Korea hosted by HWPL in September of the same year, an MOA on the implementation of HWPL peace education was signed between HWPL and the Cambodian Ministry of Education and Youth Sports, Sri Lanka Ministry of Higher Education and Culture, Guatemala Ministry of Education, and Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Science Research.

In addition, in January the same year, HWPL signed an MOU for Peace School with “Islamic National University in Jakarta Sharif Hidayatula (UIN University, President Dede Rossiyada)” among four Southeast Asian countries conducted as part of the 26th World Peace Trip. UIN University also appointed Chairman Lee as honorary president that day.

On January 29th 2018, HWPL held an MOU signing ceremony for a 'peace school' with Sharif Hidayatula Islamic National University in Jakarta, Indonesia. On that day, UIN University appointed HWPL Chairman Man-Hee Lee as honorary president. Chairman Lee took commemorative photos after being appointed as the honorary president of UIN University

In December 2015, five schools including Ramagya School, Noida International University, Alkon Public School, Samsara School, and JP School in India, honored Chairman Lee’s peace movement and designated themselves as the 'HWPL Peace School' and also appointed Chairman Lee as an honorary director.

Pravin Roy, the principal of Samsara School, pledged, “I hope many students will hear about Chairman Lee’s peace movement. We will gather students from 50 schools in New Delhi.”

Israel Mar Elias School was also designated an HWPL Peace School, and appointed Chairman Lee as honorary principal. The school promised to provide peace education to about 3,000 students once or twice a semester using HWPL's peace activities as a material.

President Elias Chacor said, "HWPL's peaceful actions are an example to the world. I hope that the students of Mar Elias School will become messengers of peace through HWPL's peace education and become an example of leading the world's youth."

At Kosovo Pristina University, designated as an HWPL Peace School, a banner containing HWPL's activities was created and installed in the lobby to inform students of Chairman Lee's peace activities, showing great interest.

HWPL and Sharif Hidayatula Islamic National University in Jakarta, Indonesia held a peace school MOU signing ceremony at UIN University on January 29th 2018.

[HWPL] HWPL celebrates World Teacher's Day in the Philippines!

Voice of Peace PH held an online event to celebrate World Teacher's Day and encourage volunteer teachers about peace education last October.

Voice of Peace PH was founded by HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light; Chairman Man Hee Lee), which is a global peace organization, to spread peace culture through peace education.

Students paid honor and showed their thankfulness to their teachers of peace through special presentations, video messages and songs.

Zakiya Jayle Razo, a 6th grade student, participated in the event, saying, "We want you to know that your impact on our lives will not end at the end of the 12th lesson. That way, we will continue to spread our wings as messengers of peace".

HWPL Peace Education consists of 12 lessons about love, forgiveness, compassion, understanding and respect for the elderly.

According to Karen Kim, Director of HWPL's Peace Education at the Southern Seoul Branch, Voice of Peace PH is going to open another branch in The Philippines in January 2021.

Voice of Peace PH expects that they will keep spreading peace culture to more young people through HWPL's Peace Education.

[HWPL] DPCW of HWPL and Chairman Man Hee Lee and the Libyan Civil War

[HWPL]

[HWPL] DPCW of HWPL and Chairman Man Hee Lee and the Libyan Civil War

Since 2011, Libya has been unable to extricate itself from long-term chaos caused by political, religious and ideological conflict. The country was again turned into a battlefield with the Libyan civil war between the Eastern LNA and Western GNA. After the Arab Spring, Libyans were looking forward to the reign of true democracy but more than 300,000 people died in the ensuing civil war. It's now 2020 and the civil war continues. People's suffering has not yet ended.

Moreover, most people around the world who regularly watch international news know that it created countless Libyan refugees fleeing from their country. It produced more innocent victims - women and children who lost precious family members. Conflict between politics, religion and ideology caused all these troubles and pain.

To solve global conflicts and wars, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) and affiliated peace advocates have been working for world peace through peace initiatives such as the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) - an international law for peace drafted by HWPL's Peace Law Committee - the 'Legislate Peace' project (Peace Signatures and Peace Letters) and Peace Education since its founding for the spreading of a culture of peace.

Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL
The DPCW is an international law drafted by HWPL's Peace Law Committee which consists of prominent law experts and human rights activists. The DPCW consists of 10 articles and 38 clauses that fundamentally removes and prevents the causes of war and conflict. It also contains articles for creating sustainable world peace through Peace Education and a culture of peace. So Chairman Man Hee Lee and HWPL's DPCW is the only answer for world peace.
DPCW. Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War 10 Articles and 38 Clauses

HWPL's Chairman Man Hee Lee and  peace advocates of IWPG (International Women's Peace Group) and IPYG (International Peace Youth Group) have travelled the world more than 30 times to urge all people including former and current presidents, prime ministers, politicians, law experts, religious leaders, leaders of NGO and more to support the DPCW so it can be introduced to the UN's general assembly.

Chairman Man Hee Lee gave speech at UN's assembly room in 2018 on the World's Day

The UN suggested and demanded both parties (LNA and GNA) of the Libyan Civil War to make a truce and cease civil war. As a member of HWPL Supporters One, I think the DPCW must be adopted in Libya in order to solve their conflict. The leaders of the two armies must have dialogue together with Chairman Man Hee Lee at a round table, and talk under the arbitration of Chairman Man Hee Lee to bring peace to Libya and its people. Leaders must be held responsible for what they have caused in their country.

My wish is that HWPL and Chairman Man Hee Lee will ultimately achieve world peace through the DPCW, and create a world of sustainable peace without war.

[HWPL] HWPL Peace Education Hosted Throughout Europe

[Food]

[HWPL] HWPL Peace Education Hosted Throughout Europe

HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light; Chairman Man Hee Lee) carries out Peace Education as one of its main peace initiatives. Peace Education teaches young children and students to understand one another and resolve conflict and misunderstandings without the use of violence but through peaceful methods transcending race, gender, religion and ideology. This means that world peace will be achieved and maintained by future generations who learn this Peace Education.

HWPL has been working for the introduction of the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) with its 10 Articles and 38 Clauses that was drafted by HWPL's Peace Law Committee for the sake of world peace. Peace Education plays a crucial role in the DPCW and HWPL's peace initiatives.

Two schools in Targu Mures, Romania - Scoala Gimnaziala Dr. Bernady Gyorgy and Liceul Technologic Gheorghe Sincai - hosted HWPL Peace Education cultural exchange programs for students on December 5th.

Moreover, on November 28th and 29th, Scoala Generala #195 Hamburg school in Bucharest, Romania, also held Peace Education. Peace education helps students realize the importance of peace and think of what they can do for peace. Students discussed peace and ways of understanding others.

The schools signed an MOU with HWPL and will keep participating in the Peace Education program. They are planning to carry out the program regularly in the future.

[HWPL] HWPL Gimhae Branch Said "Cessation of All Religious Conflicts Needed to Achieve World Peace"

[HWPL]

[HWPL] HWPL Gimhae Branch Said "Cessation of All Religious Conflicts Needed to Achieve World Peace"

"세계 평화 이루려면 종교 분쟁 없어야" / gimhaenews.co.kr / Dec 24th 2019 / Gimhaenews / South Korea

HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light. Chairman Man Hee Lee) is a non-governmental organization purposed to cease all wars and achieve world peace. It has been carrying out peace initiatives to pass on sustainable world peace that transcends politics, religion, race and culture in 170 countries.

HWPL has more than 70 branches in South Korea, and HWPL Gimhae branch in Buwon-Dong has more than 1000 members. Branch director, Mr. Yonghwan Hwang, said, "HWPL desires a peaceful world without continuous wars, hostilities and conflicts. We are focusing on three main peace initiatives which are the introduction of the DPCW at the UN's general assembly, WARP (World Alliance of Religions' Peace) office meetings for interfaith dialogue, and peace education and culture.

Branch Director Mr. Hwang said, "The DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War - a new international law drafted by HWPL) has the power to cease all wars and is the definite answer for world peace. More than 80% of wars throughout world history have occurred because of religious conflicts, so we are now carrying out 'Interfaith Dialogues' to resolve and prevent religious conflicts."

Mr. Hyungmin Kim, Assistant Manager of IPYG (International Peace Youth Group, a sub-group of HWPL) Gimhae branch, said, "Peace education is a core value. We have the duty to teach the true value of world peace to young generations today and to pass on world peace to future generations."

Branch Director Hwang added that "We want people to perceive HWPL without distorted perception, not seeing HWPL as a group of religious people."

[IWPG] A World of Peace Drawn by Children: "2nd International Peace-Love Drawing Competition"

[IWPG]

[IWPG] A World of Peace Drawn by Children: "2nd International Peace-Love Drawing Competition"

On sunny October 10th, IWPG (International Women's Peace Group; Chairwoman Mrs. Hyunsook Yoon) hosted its "2nd International Peace-Love Drawing Competition" at the Nurikum Square Building in Seoul.

The competition was held to spread a culture of peace throughout the world for world peace. More than 6500 students from 41 cities in 30 countries participated in each city under the theme "Cessation of War, Handwritten Peace Letters, Love for Nation and Peace, and Eradication of Weapons."

In this article, I want to share quotes and pictures of participants including the chairwoman of IWPG and children.

VIPs and children who were awarded for their pictures
Mrs. Hyunsook Yoon. Chairwoman of IWPG :

"There is a thing I find regrettable in this international event—that children and youth in North Korea were not able to join us. I am confident that if all youth across the globe have a great yearning for it, and our hope for peace touches heaven, we will be able to see the day when children and youth from the North take part in the event together with us. I promise that the IWPG will pour its efforts into realizing a world of peace on the drawing papers to ensure that they do not simply remain as drawings and also to make the event even better next year."

Mr. Soon-kyu Hwang. Vice-chair of Board of Directors of Korean Fine Arts Association :

"Young children and youth are the key players who will lead the achievement of world peace. That is why it is all the more crucial that we teach them a culture of peace via drawings. Education on the culture of peace that enlightens people worldwide and brings together religions and nations should be done under the slogan, ‘We are one!'"

Children who awarded for the prize
Ms. Ha-eun Yoon. Grand prize winner :

"I believe that we have a deep yearning for peace and consider it important because words like “war” and “conflict” exist. For wars to cease, what we need are peace and unification. Hence, I drew a pure white dove, able to fly freely to anywhere in the world, carrying a rainbow-colored hope and delivering a message of peace to all the people tormented by war."

Mr. Lee-hyang Chun. Director of Center for Hongik Filial Piety, Loyalty, Proprieties, and Culture :

"I believe that the majority of the people dream of building a world free of wars and that the children have sown the seed to make it a reality through these drawings. I think that when the seed grows, blossoms, and bears fruit, that would be the time when the world becomes a peaceful place."

As a member of HWPL Supporters One, I wish for a peaceful world that children dream of to come true soon in the near future :)

[Peace news] Lest We Forget - Korean War Historical Sites

[Peace news]

[Peace news] Lest We Forget - Korean War Historical Sites

The tragic Korean War erupted 69 years ago but its deep scars remain throughout the Korean peninsular. On June 25th, Hankuk Youth Daily reported on the number of historical Korean War sites within Korea, reminding people of the necessity and desire for a world of peace without wars.

6.25...Historical sites that remind pain of Korean War / Reporter Wongeuk Seo and Hyeonsoon Lee / June 24th 2019 / Hankuk Youth Daily / South Korea
1. Geoje Island POW Camp Memorial Park

Geoje Island POW Camp was built to accommodate Chinese and North Korean POWs and was the biggest POW camp in the days following World War 2.

2. Dabudong War Memorial Museum and Patriotic Bridge in Waegwan
Dabudong Chilgok and Waegwan Patriotic Bridge in Gyeongbuk province are locations for one of the fiercest battles that reversed the situation favorably for the UN and Korean Army during the Korean War, causing countless deaths of soldiers and citizens. It is true that the counteroffensive by the UN-Korean alliance against North Korea started from Dabudong battle and Incheon Landing Operation.

3. Memorial Hall for Incheon Landing Operation

I would say Koreans are indebted to General Douglas MacArthur and fellow soldiers (Koreans and non-Koreans) for a great victory in Incheon. Without the tremendous success of the Incheon Landing Operation, South Korea wouldn't possess its current territory and prosper.

4. Ulsan Public Park

Ulsan Public Park has a memorial monument and area for local soldiers (especially teenage soldiers) who fought in the Korean War.

5. Yongsan War Memorial Museum in Seoul

Yongsan War Memorial Museum in Seoul exhibits more than 9000 modern war history resources including the Korean War and the 'War Experience Room' where you can indirectly experience how cruel the war was. I remember when I visited this room as a youth - I was so disturbed by soldier mannequins with amputated legs squirting blood all over a medical mannequin opposite.

6. United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan, South Korea

The United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan, Korea, is the only UN cemetery in the world where soldiers from 11 countries who fought in the Korean War 'Rest In Peace'.

7. Yeoncheon Station Box Water Tower

The water tower that looks like a box in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi province covered with bullet marks as soldiers fought to occupy the water tower for survival and victory in the war.

8. Cheorwon Peace Observation Tower

Commemorative Monument for Victory of Battle of White Horse

At Cherwon Observation Tower, you can see White Horse Hill where its owner changed 24 times during the Korean War by Battle of White Horse. Moreover, you can observe Propaganda Village (a village in North Korea that was made to promote the benefits of living in North Korea) via telescope.

There are more historical Korean War sites that commemorate the atrocious history in Korea and the world. When we look through or visit these sites, what is important is to think why people build historical war sites. We have to commemorate past wars to perceive the many faults, greed and misjudgments that led to so many people - including youths - losing their lives in war.

Today, the world still suffers from wars and conflicts, which means people have not learn anything about past wars and conflicts. Humanity today desperately needs peace. In order to prevent the same thing from happening again in today's generation, we have to be educated and work together for  world peace, and not only remind ourselves of past wars.

Educate children to resolve problems and conflicts through peaceful discussion and harmony, not through violence and weapons. I hope you are on the same page with me :)

Peace!
