[HWPL] Peace Letter Campaign - Letter to Prime Minister Theresa May from an HWPL supporter

Dear Prime Minister Theresa May,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing today to plead with you to support the new international peace law ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War’ (DPCW).

I am a young man from the Middle East who moved to the UK several years ago after fleeing the brutalities of war which I witnessed first-hand. When I watch the news or read the newspaper, it is impossible not to be confronted with everyday stories of war and conflict. The victims of such tragedies are often innocent civilians. I ask myself “why?” Why are young people sent into the frontlines of war to die? Would political decision-makers who in many countries dictate the fate of other young men and women, consider sending their own child into war? Who will compensate for such a loss of life or for a mother grieving incessantly for her dead son or daughter?

This is why I am writing to ask for your support. The DPCW was initially drafted at the Royal Courts of Justice in London in November 2015 by a global NGO called ‘Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light’ (HWPL) - registered under the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) - working alongside a group of international law experts. In 2014, HWPL successfully put an end to the 40-year conflict between Catholics and Muslims on the island of Mindanao, Philippines, and was founded for the purpose of putting a permanent end to all world conflicts, thereby creating true peace between people of all nations.

It is clear that current international law has failed to resolve conflicts while victims of war continue to cry out for peace. What distinguishes the DPCW from existing peace law is its bottoms-up approach. It has secured the support of millions of women and youth including thousands of current & former heads of state, First Ladies, presidents, politicians, chief justices, educators, journalists and religious leaders. The DPCW comprises 10 articles and 38 clauses covering 'Demilitarisation', 'Reduction and prohibition of weapons manufacturing', 'Conflict resolution' and 'Spreading of peace culture'. Some of its most notable articles include:-

Article 1 Prohibition the threat or use of force
Article 2 Reduce war potential and re-purpose weapons to benefit humanity
Article 6 Settle international disputes through peaceful means
Article 9 Promote peaceful coexistence amongst religious and ethnic groups
Article 10 Spread a culture of peace

The DPCW will be introduced to the United Nations for ratification as internationally-binding peace law this September. Your support is vital in ensuring we work towards a world where our children will learn how to maintain resolve conflict through peaceful means. This is surely the greatest legacy we can leave them. Again, I appeal to you to consider signing the DPCW for peace and for the wellbeing of future generations, as many other world leaders have done. Surely future generations will remember their leader as someone who wanted peace.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
James

Peace!
