On May 20, 2014, at the Municipal Palace of Veracruz City Hall, Mexico, Veracruz Mayor Ramón Poo Gil formally welcomes Chairman Man-hee Lee, who was on his 10th Peace Tour, and presents him with a certificate of appreciation and a medal

Man-hee Lee, Chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), received a certificate of appreciation and a medal from Veracruz, one of the largest port cities in Mexico, in recognition of his efforts for peace, and appointed him as an Honorary Ambassador of the City of Veracruz.

On May 20, 2014, Mayor of Veracruz Ramón Poo Gil invited Chairman Lee, who was on his 10th Peace Tour, to the regular meeting of the Municipal Council, and awarded him a certificate of appreciation and a medal at Veracruz City Hall. The letter of appreciation, titled 'In honor of great achievements for world peace and harmony', reads as follows: “The City of Veracruz, a channel between the American continent and Western culture, embraces your thoughts and will, and the hearts of the citizens of Veracruz are with you for the noble goal of world peace. Thank you for your great work.”

The certificate of appreciation awarded by the mayor at the municipal palace of Veracruz City Hall was particularly meaningful as it is typically conferred on individuals with distinctive achievements. Mayor Gil appointed Chairman Lee as an Honorary Ambassador of the City of Veracruz at that meeting. About 500 people attended the ceremony, including politicians, leading local government officials, and religious leaders. 28 local media outlets, including newspapers and television broadcasters, competed fiercely for coverage.

Mayor Gil presented Chairman Lee with a certificate of appreciation, not only for his contribution to peace during his visit to Mexico but also worldwide. This is because of the positive impact of Chairman Lee's global peace movement in Mexico.

In fact, during the 7th peace tour in November 2013, Chairman Lee and his peace delegation held a peace walk and a peace seminar in Tijuana, a tourist city in Mexico. About 1,000 people, including domestic youth groups and Tijuana citizens, attended the event and joined in the festive spirit.

The Mayor of Veracruz said, “I was deeply moved by meeting Chairman Lee, who is stirring the hearts of young people and citizens with his unique calling for peace. I, therefore, awarded him a certificate of appreciation.” Mayor Gil emphasized, “Chairman Man-hee Lee, who is walking a path for world peace, is desperately needed in today's world. I hope we will all walk the same path of peace as Chairman Lee.”

On May 20, 2014, a peace agreement ceremony was held at Veracruz City Hall, Mexico, attended by Chairman Man-hee Lee and Mayor Ramón Poo Gil

It was one month before their actual visit that Chairman Lee and the HWPL peace delegation decided to include Veracruz on the itinerary of the 10th Peace Tour. Having visited South America on their 9th peace tour prior, Chairman Lee and the peace delegation had made an extraordinary connection with a Mexican pastor couple while visiting Uruguay.

The pastor couple, who are responsible for overseeing 300 churches in Mexico, had boarded the same plane as Chairman Lee and approached the peace delegation to say, “We would like to take a photograph with him”, “We're both amazed to see a bright light on him.”

On May 19, 2014, Chairman Man-hee Lee and a Mexican pastor couple are taking a commemorative photo at Veracruz City Hall, Mexico. Previously, the pastor couple, responsible for overseeing 300 churches in Mexico, had boarded the same plane as Chairman Lee during his 9th peace tour and were astonished to see a bright light accompany him. They had asked if they could take a picture on the spot

During a discussion on peace Chairman Lee held with the pastor couple at that time, he told them, "I don't believe us meeting today is a coincidence." Impressed by these words, the pastor couple invited Chairman Lee to Veracruz.

The pastor couple had already notified the city of Veracruz of these facts one month before Chairman Lee's visit, and because of this, it was said that many locals were already prepared for the visit by Chairman Lee and the peace delegation.

Chairman Lee said in an interview with a media outlet, “I believe that peace and blessings will come to this land sooner or later, just as the names of Mexico and Veracruz mean. We should do our best, from our respective positions, to work for peace with a noble and sincere heart.”

He also mentioned the Sinking of MV Sewol that had occurred in South Korea at the time of his visit to Mexico and said, “My heart pains me when I think of the victims of the Sewol ferry disaster in Korea.” He stressed, “True peace is a world of harmony and love without corruption. For that to happen, this message of peace must be widely spread, and everyone’s hearts must be filled with peace so that there will be no more pain and sorrow.”

In a lecture given on the topic of the cessation of war and world peace, which was held after being awarded the certificate of appreciation, Chairman Lee made an appeal, “Let’s cease wars and work hand in hand to achieve peace.” The attendees gave Chairman Lee, who had come to Veracruz and delivered a lecture while doing the work of peace, a standing ovation.

Chairman Lee’s message of peace on that day is said to have become a beacon of great hope to the Mexican authorities and the citizens of Veracruz, who have suffered from serious acts of crime.

  1. This is truly beautiful work. I sincerely hope that the DPCW will be enacted as international law by the United Nations as soon as possible in 2023. Kudos to Chairman Lee of HWPL and all HWPL supporters. In the words of Viktor Yushchenko, former President of Ukraine, “The DPCW is a perfect and balanced document that can be the basis of solidarity for peacekeeping in all countries of the world. I think all the leaders of the countries should support the DPCW."
