[Peace News] Young People in the South Pacific Respond to Climate Change

On January 15, the underwater volcano erupted in Tonga, located in the central part of the South Pacific Ocean, causing damage to many countries. Since then, Mr. Nitin Raj, a member of ARUKA Fiji, which is a Fiji youth organization that is affiliated with the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), delivered a message as a global citizen living in the South Pacific.

“I am so sorry for the many people in Tonga that have been damaged by this volcanic eruption. Since Fiji is located near Tonga, Fiji has also been affected by volcanic ash, volcanic clouds. We, as human beings, can’t stop the natural disaster, but if it has something to do with climate changes, then we should work on stopping it.

It is going to be us who is damaged through our carelessness, and it is especially so for the youths who will lead the future. We all must pay attention to climate change and take actions so the youth will not be harmed by it.”

In line with his concerns, climate change is no longer a problem that pertains to specific regions. Last year, the youth from 55 countries who attended the IPYG’s youth discussion platform, Youth Empowerment Peace Workshop (YEPW), also expressed suffering from extreme weather conditions such as heat waves, heavy rain, droughts, and tropical cyclones.

There are many young people who are actively campaigning to prevent such climate change. Last year on January 31, youth leaders from South Pacific countries that are with the IPYG such as Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Tuvalu have started an online campaign called “World Peace Citizen.” People can participate in this campaign by posting comments regarding environmental protection or uploading photos or videos of recycling bottles, cans, vinyl, or plastics on their social media followed with #IPYG #WeAreheroes hashtags.

[HWPL] 2019 HWPL World Peace Summit in Suva, Fiji

HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light; Chairman Man Hee Lee) reported that "2019 HWPL World Peace Summit" was hosted on September 3rd at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva, Fiji, under the title "Legislate Peace - Implementation of the DPCW for Sustainable Development." Representatives and leaders of womens and youth organizations, religious leaders, political leaders and the press participated in the event, including the Minister and Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports.

As the South Pacific is one of the regions which suffered during World War 2, summit participants gave speeches and engaged in discussion about the importance of citizens in South Pacific working together with HWPL to bring peace to their region and throughout the world.

During the keynote speech, Mr. Epeli Vakatawa of Fiji TV said: "In South Pacific, we had experienced World War II and a colonial era. During World War II, the beautiful South Pacific regions were tested with nuclear weapons and people were exploited....."

Therefore, HWPL held the event to urge leaders and citizens of the South Pacific to support the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) and to reply to Peace Letters for the implementation of the DPCW through the U.N. The DPCW consists of 10 articles and 38 clauses for sustainable peace and spreading of peace culture.

Mr. Preetam Singh Shokar, Senior Priest of Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Suva Fiji and Praveen Kumar Bala, the Minister of Youth and Sports

Mr. Preetam Singh Shokar, Chief Ambassador of HWPL in Fiji and Senior Priest of Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Suva Fiji said: "The main goal of HWPL's initiatives is to cease all conflicts by establishing international law for peace based on the DPCW and it is in the process of introducing it to the UN General Assembly....."

During the event, HWPL signed an MOU with the South Pacific press, and more than 100 participants wrote peace letters in support of the DPCW.

HWPL has been carrying out its "Legislate Peace" Project for world peace, and will continue to work until the day world peace is achieved.

[HWPL] 2019 HWPL World Peace Summit "Legislate Peace" in Suva, Fiji

[HWPL]

[HWPL] 2019 HWPL World Peace Summit "Legislate Peace" in Suva, Fiji

Since the end of August, many cities around the world have been hosting the 2019 HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light. Chairman: Mr. Man Hee Lee) World Peace Summit "Legislate Peace".

On September 7th, HWPL hosted its 2019 HWPL World Peace Summit "Legislate Peace" in Suva, Fiji with VIPs and citizens including the Minister for Fisheries, Assistant Minister for Ministry of Youth, Sports and Media, leaders from women and youth organizations and leaders from more than 15 religions.

Fijian press reported that participants discussed the achievement of peace in the South Pacific Islands and practical methods for achieving it.

HWPL and its Chairman, Man Hee Lee, have been focusing on ways to urge every head of state globally to support the DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) - with its
10 articles and 38 clauses - which is the only answer for sustainable world peace; the reason being that in order to implement the DPCW at the UN General Assembly, it is compulsory to gain official support from every head of state.

Thus, HWPL has been carrying out its LP ("Legislate Peace") Campaign which consists of the Peace Letter and signatures in support of the DPCW.

So why don't you join the "Legislate Peace" campaign with us? Your letter and signature for world peace will definitely contribute towards world peace :)

Peace!
