[HWPL] HWPL's Coffee Table Book Launching in the Philippines!

[HWPL]

[HWPL] HWPL's Coffee Table Book Launching in the Philippines!

Chairman ManHee Lee is the head representative of the global peace organization HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), which is striving for the enactment and implementation of the international peace law 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)'. The  DPCW is a legal instrument comprised of 10 articles and 38 clauses that can end wars and hostilities throughout the world. HWPL is also spreading a culture of peace and implementing peace education.

Chairman ManHee Lee experienced the cruelty and tragedy of war as a veteran of the Korean War. This is one of the reasons why he founded a global peace campaign as the head of HWPL. He has traveled the globe more than 35 times to meet and persuade politicians, legal experts, journalists, professors, peace activists, civil organization leaders, heads of tribes and others to unite them for the work of peace. The significant fruits borne out of his hard work are the World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Summit and HWPL Peace Committee. The DPCW was drafted and finalised by the HWPL Peace Committee.

How, you may wonder, do I know this? About 10 years ago, when I had just been discharged from military service, I came to know HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee while researching the topic of civil conflicts to satisfy my curiosity in ongoing global issues. At that time, the island of Mindanao in the Philippines was suffering from a major civil conflict that lasted more than 40 years, and Chairman ManHee Lee and HWPL resolved this conflict through non-violent means.

Chairman Lee brought an end to the conflict in Mindanao by holding a peace talk between the warring Catholic and Islamic groups. Before the talk, HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee held a Peace Walk to spread the culture of peace in Mindanao with the many locals who had gathered out of a desire for peace.

Chairman ManHee Lee's pressing appeal today is that humanity unites for sustainable peace in order to pass on the legacy of peace to future generations worldwide. He doesn't just talk peace, but has worked tirelessly for it through practical peace campaigns for over a decade.

I decided to become a supporter of HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee's peace initiatives because I also desire a world of peace for all posterity.

Today I'd like to introduce an article regarding HWPL's Coffee Table Book Launching in the Philippines :)

On 2nd August, the SALAM-The Ateneo Muslim Society participated in the HWPL Coffee Table Book Launching, bringing together representatives from the 11 tribes of Davao City, Philippines, celebrating unity and cultural diversity.

The coffee table book highlights HWPL’s global peace initiatives and the collective efforts toward fostering world peace and mutual understanding among different communities.

Today I'd like to introduce an article regarding HWPL's Religious Peace Youth Camp in Belgium!

The "HWPL Religious Peace Youth Camp" in Belgium, co-organised by HWPL and the Shiva Forum Europe, served as a platform for religious leaders and youth to explore the values of coexistence and mutual respect among various religions. This camp emphasised the importance of interfaith dialogue to foster mutual understanding and maintain lasting peace. The day was enriching with discussions on the nuances of the term "Hindu" and inspiring interactions with representatives from different faiths. A significant moment was the exchange with the mayor of Oudenaarde, highlighting the shared commitment to peace and mutual respect.

The Religious Peace Camp promotes the importance of religious harmony emphasised by HWPL to end the ongoing religious conflicts, eradicate discrimination and persecution by resolving misunderstandings and conflicts arising from ignorance between religions, and spread the culture of peace based on a correct understanding of each religion and ideology. Aside from the Religious Peace Camp, the HWPL WARP Office Meetings, a scriptural comparison discussion to achieve religious peace, are being hosted monthly worldwide.

Ethiopia is a country deeply interested in peace and education. In May, there was a special gathering with passionate youth leaders.

The Deputy Minister of Justice of Ethiopia delivered a speech, giving hope and inspiration to the youth. And the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) shared ongoing activities of HWPL and IPYG in Ethiopia. Thanks to the IPYG youth network, the attending youth had the opportunity to meet and interact with each other.

Despite challenging circumstances, the passion among youth leaders for peace was evident. They strengthened their commitment to continuing peace activities with IPYG.

This beautiful meeting, full of passion for peace, only leaves one excited for future YEPW in AU activities.

‘Building a Better World Together’, HWPL Peace Forum Held in Madagascar

On April 29th, a peace forum was held at the National Institute of Accounting, Science, and Business Administration (INSCAE) in Madagascar. Organized by HWPL, the event was co-hosted by INSCAE, one of the most prestigious universities in Madagascar. The peace forum was attended by 200 participants from various sectors, including former ministers of labor, employment, public service, and social law, government officials, members of parliament, educators, civil society organizations, women’s groups, and youth organizations.

The event was divided into two parts: the main session and sub-sessions. The main session, titled ‘HWPL Peace Forum: Building a Better World Together,’ included a ceremony where a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between HWPL and educational institutions actively collaborating with HWPL in Madagascar. The sub-sessions focused on discussions among participants from different sectors to promote peace initiatives.

Among the institutions that signed an MOU with HWPL were INSCAE, which co-hosted the peace forum, and 14 public elementary schools actively collaborating in the ‘HWPL Peace Library Project’ since 2023.

The sub-sessions included a media session titled, ‘Peace Journalism Workshop: The Role of Media in Conflict Resolution,’ a youth session on ‘Empowering Youth: Self-esteem, Winning Attitude, Respect for Each Other,’ ‘Volunteerism as Tools for Development,’ a religious session on ‘Harmony in Diversity: First Peace Football Cup Discussion with Religious Leaders,’ and a women’s session on ‘Establishing the Women’s Peace Committee.’ Each session aimed to form working groups in respective fields with the common goal of promoting peace initiatives in collaboration with HWPL.

Harimino Rakoto, general manager of the National Institute of Accounting, Science, and Business Administration (INSCAE), stated in her speech, “In order to contribute to inclusive and equilibrated economic growth, INSCAE offers a modern learning environment which provides future graduates excellent skills so that they can take advantage of business and job opportunities in the context of diversity. And events such as today’s event shall also create a great environment for the students in this university to learn in a wider view.”

Former Minister of Labor, Employment, Public Service, and Social Law of Madagascar Hon. Richard Jean Bosco Rivotiana attended the peace forum and expressed his support for HWPL’s peace activities. “With all the days I’ve been working with HWPL, their activities have made tremendous progress,” Rivotiana said. “And the forum today was a very progressive event as well. With all I can, I will support HWPL in their activities when they need me.”

HWPL Global4 Branch Office: Promoting and Volunteering Activities for the 6th Gijang Bada Marathon Tournament

On April 28th, over 100 volunteers from the HWPL Global4 branch participated in volunteer activities at the “6th Gijang Bada Marathon Tournament,” held at Osiria Question Mark Park in Gijang-gun, Busan. The HWPL Global4 branch volunteers provided various forms of assistance throughout the marathon, ensuring that participants could enjoy the event safely and comfortably. They also introduced HWPL’s peace activities to the participants and encouraged them to join. As a result, dozens of participants pledged to support HWPL’s peace initiatives as HWPL members.

The volunteers managed baggage storage for runners, guided the start of the race, operated water stations to hydrate runners, distributed medals and on-site certificates after the race, assisted with stage events, and ran a service center to deal with any inconveniences. Their efforts covered all necessary areas to help the marathon run smoothly and allow participants to focus on the race without any discomfort.

After the marathon, the volunteers concluded their activities by cleaning up and sorting trash around Osiria Question Mark Park and four water station areas, ensuring the environment around the event venue was left spotless.

An official from the HWPL Global4 branch shared their thoughts on the volunteer work, stating, “We felt a sense of reward seeing many marathoners across the country enjoy and find happiness in the marathon event. Our volunteers assisted with water station management, distributing on-site certificates, and event operations, and we were so happy to help wherever needed.”

Hyuyun, the head monk of Yeonhwa-sa and the committee chairman for the Gijang Bada Marathon Organizing Committee, expressed gratitude towards the HWPL Global4 branch volunteers. He acknowledged that their dedication and efforts were crucial for the smooth operation of the marathon tournament.
