[HWPL] HWPL's Peace Culture Campaign in Mongolia

Chairman ManHee Lee is the head representative of the global peace organization HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), which is striving for the enactment and implementation of the international peace law 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)'. The  DPCW is a legal instrument comprised of 10 articles and 38 clauses that can end wars and hostilities throughout the world. HWPL is also spreading a culture of peace and implementing peace education.

Chairman ManHee Lee experienced the cruelty and tragedy of war as a veteran of the Korean War. This is one of the reasons why he founded a global peace campaign as the head of HWPL. He has traveled the globe more than 35 times to meet and persuade politicians, legal experts, journalists, professors, peace activists, civil organization leaders, heads of tribes and others to unite them for the work of peace. The significant fruits borne out of his hard work are the World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Summit and HWPL Peace Committee. The DPCW was drafted and finalised by the HWPL Peace Committee.

How, you may wonder, do I know this? About 10 years ago, when I had just been discharged from military service, I came to know HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee while researching the topic of civil conflicts to satisfy my curiosity in ongoing global issues. At that time, the island of Mindanao in the Philippines was suffering from a major civil conflict that lasted more than 40 years, and Chairman ManHee Lee and HWPL resolved this conflict through non-violent means.

Chairman Lee brought an end to the conflict in Mindanao by holding a peace talk between the warring Catholic and Islamic groups. Before the talk, HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee held a Peace Walk to spread the culture of peace in Mindanao with the many locals who had gathered out of a desire for peace.

Chairman ManHee Lee's pressing appeal today is that humanity unites for sustainable peace in order to pass on the legacy of peace to future generations worldwide. He doesn't just talk peace, but has worked tirelessly for it through practical peace campaigns for over a decade.

I decided to become a supporter of HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee's peace initiatives because I also desire a world of peace for all posterity.

Today I'd like to introduce an article regarding HWPL's Peace Culture Campaign in Mongolia

HWPL Peace Culture Campaign – Building the Path to Peace Together

On May 10th and 12th, the “HWPL Peace Culture Campaign – Building the Path to Peace Together” was successfully held in Khovd Province and Bayan-Ölgii Province in western Mongolia. This meaningful event brought together approximately 340 participants, including governors, deputy governors, and chairpersons of residents’ representative councils from each province, as well as low-income children, parents, and local residents, to share the values of peace.

Western Mongolia is a region where urbanization and economic development have progressed slowly due to its distance of thousands of kilometers from the capital, Ulaanbaatar, as well as its rugged terrain and inadequate transportation and infrastructure. Furthermore, capital-centered policies and concentrated investments have led to insufficient educational, medical, and cultural infrastructure, significantly limiting residents’ quality of life.

In response, HWPL implemented a variety of region-specific peace culture programs to contribute to social integration and sustainable development, including:
▲ Peace education to foster youth leadership and civic consciousness
▲ Tree planting activities to combat desertification and protect the ecosystem
▲ Community-building through donations and sharing
▲ Raising awareness of international peace law based on the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)

As part of this campaign, approximately 100 low-income children and parents received gifts and donations, practicing the value of sharing to promote regional solidarity.

Barayat, Deputy Governor of Khovd Province, stated,

“We look forward to establishing a continuous and long-term cooperative relationship with HWPL through this campaign and hope to lay a foundation for expanding youth participation and establishing a culture of peace through peace education, tree planting, and youth-led community development activities.”

Berigas, Chairperson of the Bayan-Ölgii Province Residents’ Representative Council, also expressed,

“We sincerely thank HWPL for hosting this meaningful event. This campaign has added great value to the development of our province and local community.”

One of the most significant achievements of the event was the official adoption of statements supporting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) by both Khovd Province and Bayan-Ölgii Province. These statements mark a meaningful step forward, serving as formal pledges of support for the DPCW and ongoing peace cooperation at the regional government level in Mongolia.

The event was covered by Derbes TV, a local broadcasting station in Bayan-Ölgii Province, and the results were also shared through the official social media channels of each province, gaining notable attention from local residents.

Moving forward, the HWPL Mongolia Branch plans to continue a variety of activities to ensure that youth and citizens in marginalized areas of western Mongolia can consistently engage in practical peace culture initiatives centered around peace, ecology, and sharing.
