[HWPL] HWPL Peace Educator Ceremony in Nepal!

Chairman ManHee Lee is the head representative of the global peace organization HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), which is striving for the enactment and implementation of the international peace law 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)'. The DPCW is a legal instrument comprised of 10 articles and 38 clauses that can end wars and hostilities throughout the world. HWPL is also spreading a culture of peace and implementing peace education.

Chairman ManHee Lee experienced the cruelty and tragedy of war as a veteran of the Korean War. This is one of the reasons why he founded a global peace campaign as the head of HWPL. He has traveled the globe more than 35 times to meet and persuade politicians, legal experts, journalists, professors, peace activists, civil organization leaders, heads of tribes and others to unite them for the work of peace. The significant fruits borne out of his hard work are the World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Summit and HWPL Peace Committee. The DPCW was drafted and finalised by the HWPL Peace Committee.

How, you may wonder, do I know this? About 10 years ago, when I had just been discharged from military service, I came to know HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee while researching the topic of civil conflicts to satisfy my curiosity in ongoing global issues. At that time, the island of Mindanao in the Philippines was suffering from a major civil conflict that lasted more than 40 years, and Chairman ManHee Lee and HWPL resolved this conflict through non-violent means.

Chairman Lee brought an end to the conflict in Mindanao by holding a peace talk between the warring Catholic and Islamic groups. Before the talk, HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee held a Peace Walk to spread the culture of peace in Mindanao with the many locals who had gathered out of a desire for peace.

Chairman ManHee Lee's pressing appeal today is that humanity unites for sustainable peace in order to pass on the legacy of peace to future generations worldwide. He doesn't just talk peace, but has worked tirelessly for it through practical peace campaigns for over a decade.

I decided to become a supporter of HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee's peace initiatives because I also desire a world of peace for all posterity.

HWPL Peace Educator Ceremony

From August 22nd to October 13th, the HWPL Peace Educator Training took place at the Asphodel Public School in Kathmandu, Nepal. A total of 14 current teachers participated, and on the final day, October 13th, the Peace Educator Ceremony was held.

The connection between Asphodel Public School and HWPL Peace Education began in 2021. Biva Kalika Malla Shrestha, the Vice Principal of Asphodel School and its founder, was introduced to HWPL Peace Education and was fascinated by the content. After learning Peace Educator training multiple times, she initiated the HWPL Peace Educator Training for the teachers at Asphodel Public School at her earnest request.

14 teachers learned Peace Educator training in eight sessions, covering all 12 subjects of peace education. Despite the school’s busy schedule, the dedicated teachers managed to find time to participate sincerely, and the school’s principal and vice principal facilitated the opportunity within the school’s demanding schedule. The passion of the teachers for peace education was even featured in a local newspaper in the Pokhara region of Nepal.

Initially, the teachers were uncertain about what they could do for peace when they first started Peace Educator training. However, upon completing the education, they found definite answers within the peace curriculum and realized the value and importance of being Peace Educators. They expressed joy and pride in becoming Peace Educators.

Phadindra Prasad Adhikari, the Principal of Asphodel Public School, emphasized the positive impact of peace education on students, stating “We must teach students to respect their peers and friends. If they have respect for their classmates and friends, they will undoubtedly receive respect in return. If they learn about peace in school, they will apply it at home. In doing so, students will grow into very good citizens who maintain peace.”

He also expressed expectations for the positive effects of peace education in Nepal, saying, “When we implement peace education in Nepal, children will learn the values of respect and love for each other. Citizens will have the knowledge of maintaining peace and our country will become more harmonious and peaceful. They will learn about all cultures and religions and consider us as one, regardless of culture, race, gender, or ethnicity. The most important thing is that all of humanity is one. Through this program, the entire community in Nepal will maintain harmony.”

Biva Kalika Malla Shrestha, the Vice Principal of Asphodel Public School, expressed gratitude for being able to conduct HWPL’s peace education as the school’s vice principal. She stated, ‘Peace begins with oneself, and by accepting the principles and perspective of peace, embracing families in peace, managing schools in peace, leading society in peace, and ultimately governing the world in peace, I believe that world peace will come. HWPL’s peace education is crucial for global peace, and through this, students will also become citizens of peace.
