[HWPL] Introduction to HWPL Peace Tours of Man-hee Lee: En route to 'End of War and Peace', “Lord, be with us!”

Man-hee Lee, Chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), is attracting attention for his epochal peace achievements by presenting solutions to peace in the form of the ‘Enactment of an International Law for Cessation of War’ and ‘World Alliance of Religions’. As a veteran of the Korean War, Chairman Lee is encouraging the largest number of people in the history of the global village to join the peace movement, proclaiming, “Let’s create a world without war and pass it on as an eternal legacy to future generations.” From the 1st to 31st peace tours, Korean peace activist Man-hee Lee has brought inspiration and hope to the global village with the message “Peace, We Can Make It.”

A prayer written by Man-hee Lee prior to his peace visit to Mindanao, Philippines on January 23rd, 2014

God the Father, the Great Ruler of heaven and earth

It is January 23rd, the 31st year of Shincheonji (2014), and we are going to preach the will of God the Father and Jesus to the country of the Philippines. Please join us. We can not do anything alone. If God the Father and Jesus are with us, I believe that everything will go well. This is my request. I will do my best for the Father's will and glory.

Father God, I earnestly ask with both hands to please protect the family of Shincheonji so that not a single member of the church is lost and please mobilize the angels and protect the members. I want you to receive glory by showing the fullness of your glory to us. I will do my best to show the great glory of the Father wherever I go and whoever I meet. I will go in the name of the Father, Jesus, and Heaven.

“We can not do anything alone. If God the Father and Jesus are with us, I believe that everything will go well. This is my request.”

On January 23rd, 2014, Man-hee Lee, Chairman of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), who was heading to the conflict region of Mindanao in the Philippines, wrote an earnest prayer. He is also the head of Shincheonji Church of Jesus.

After reaching the age of eighty and receiving the command to “cease wars and achieve peace in the global village,” Chairman Man-hee Lee, as he always did before embarking on a peace tour, wrote an earnest prayer. This prayer written on yellow paper is still hanging on the wall in one of his rooms. The main content in the letters he wrote before going on a peace tour was, “God and Jesus, please be with us.” Everywhere he went, amazing results blossomed. Was it a result of prayer? People welcomed Man-hee Lee, and whoever he met promised to join HWPL's peace movement.

The epochal Mindanao Civil Peace Agreement was achieved with a sense of duty to fulfill the mandate to ‘make peace’ and with the earnest prayer ‘be with us’. During a peace tour in the Philippines in September 2013, Chairman Man-hee Lee received a request from Antonio Ledesma, former Catholic Archbishop of Cagayan de Oro, 'to mediate the settlement of the Mindanao conflict’. At that time, there was an ongoing conflict between Catholics and Muslims in Mindanao, and a visit to the region was hazardous. Chairman Lee later confessed his feelings at the time, saying, “I had to go because they wanted me to come for peace, and I'm a person who works for peace.”

Upon making his decision to visit Mindanao, he prayed earnestly and arrived in Mindanao on January 24th, 2014. He was 84 years old. Chairman Man-hee Lee severely rebuked the local Catholic and Islamic leaders for using each other's religion and language to justify the 40-year conflict, and emphasized that "God's will is peace, not conflict." He also said to participants, "Raise your hand if you truly want peace." When all the participants raised their hands, he said to the religious leaders, "Then come out and sign this peace agreement."

In this way, the ‘civilian peace agreement’, which marked the beginning of the end of the bloody 40-year conflict in Mindanao, was miraculously and swiftly accomplished. Locals said, “Chairman Man-hee Lee, who risked his life at the age of 84 to come to another country only for peace, is different from politicians.” In response, Chairman Man-hee Lee said, “God has made peace in Mindanao through me.”

During the peace tour, Chairman Man-hee Lee met a number of people who said, “I saw a light above you.” Chairman Lee said of this, “It was through them that God made known to me that HE was with me.” In fact, every peace tour resulted in a remarkable outcome that is difficult for any civil peace activist to achieve. From the first peace tour in 2012 to the 31st in 2019, leaders of every country, including former and incumbent presidents, chief justices, parliamentarians, and university deans met with Chairman Man-hee Lee and promised to work with HWPL for peace.

These people gathered at the ‘WARP Summit’ held in Korea in September 2014. Through the WARP Summit, HWPL became widely known to the international community as the only peace organization that can achieve a “world of peace and cessation of war.” After that, peace activities grew.

Chairman Man-hee Lee gathered some of the most prominent legal scholars along his peace tours and launched the HWPL International Law Peace Committee, comprised of 21 legal experts, in September 2015 to commemorate the 1st Annual Commemoration of the WARP (World Alliance of Religions' Peace) Summit. On March 14th of the following year, the HWPL International Law Peace Committee published the 10 Articles and 38 Clauses of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), which serves as the basis for the 'Global Declaration on the Cessation of War and Achievement of World Peace’. After the DPCW was proclaimed, Chairman Lee's peace tours focused on promoting the DPCW to the international community and on appealing for support. As a result, it has secured the support of 55 African countries and has almost completed all necessary requirements for its enactment and implementation by the United Nations as a UN resolution.

Through heaven's answer to peace, Chairman Man-hee Lee said, “Let’s create a world of peace without war and pass it on to future generations as an eternal legacy.” He is inviting the largest number of people in history worldwide to join the peace movement.
