[IPYG] IPYG's Friends: Junior Chamber International Jamaica (JCI Jamaica)
Chairman ManHee Lee is the head representative of the global peace organization HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), which is striving for the enactment and implementation of the international peace law 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)'. The DPCW is a legal instrument comprised of 10 articles and 38 clauses that can end wars and hostilities throughout the world. HWPL is also spreading a culture of peace and implementing peace education.
Chairman ManHee Lee experienced the cruelty and tragedy of war as a veteran of the Korean War. This is one of the reasons why he founded a global peace campaign as the head of HWPL. He has traveled the globe more than 35 times to meet and persuade politicians, legal experts, journalists, professors, peace activists, civil organization leaders, heads of tribes and others to unite them for the work of peace. The significant fruits borne out of his hard work are the World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Summit and HWPL Peace Committee. The DPCW was drafted and finalised by the HWPL Peace Committee.
How, you may wonder, do I know this? About 10 years ago, when I had just been discharged from military service, I came to know HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee while researching the topic of civil conflicts to satisfy my curiosity in ongoing global issues. At that time, the island of Mindanao in the Philippines was suffering from a major civil conflict that lasted more than 40 years, and Chairman ManHee Lee and HWPL resolved this conflict through non-violent means.
Chairman Lee brought an end to the conflict in Mindanao by holding a peace talk between the warring Catholic and Islamic groups. Before the talk, HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee held a Peace Walk to spread the culture of peace in Mindanao with the many locals who had gathered out of a desire for peace.
Chairman ManHee Lee's pressing appeal today is that humanity unites for sustainable peace in order to pass on the legacy of peace to future generations worldwide. He doesn't just talk peace, but has worked tirelessly for it through practical peace campaigns for over a decade.
I decided to become a supporter of HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee's peace initiatives because I also desire a world of peace for all posterity.
Today I'd like to introduce an article regarding HWPL's affiliate youth group, IPYG's affiliate organization: Junior Chamber International Jamaica :)
Introducing an IPYG Affiliate Organization – Junior Chamber International Jamaica (JCI Jamaica)
Junior Chamber International Jamaica, hereinafter JCI Jamaica, the Jamaican branch of Junior Chamber International (JCI), which promotes youth leadership development in more than 100 countries worldwide, has announced a new phase of growth this year under the theme “Evolve and Connect.” We met with Marklon Bedward, the 2026 National President of JCI Jamaica, to hear about JCI Jamaica’s vision for community transformation and peace.

Jamaica Peace Cup
A 65-Year Journey of JCI Jamaica
Founded in 1961, JCI Jamaica is one of Jamaica’s leading youth organizations, currently comprising approximately 140 members across five local chapters and four operational committees. National President Marklon Bedward emphasized, “JCI is not just a place to learn theory, but a place where lives and communities are transformed through practical experience.” In particular, under the principle of “One Year to Lead,” JCI provides young people with new responsibilities and opportunities for growth each year.
This year, under the slogan “Evolve Your Power: Empower Your Community, Connect with the World,” JCI Jamaica is carrying out a range of initiatives.
Key projects include mangrove tree planting to support recovery from Hurricane Melissa, an Autism Awareness Expo, and the JCI Elite Academy, which aims to strengthen business, debate, and leadership competencies. President Bedward stated, “Our core goal this year is to support communities in recovery while also strengthening the practical skills of young people.”

Caribbean Peace Walk
Collaboration with IPYG is particularly noteworthy. Now in its third year, this partnership has expanded into various initiatives, including the Peace Walk held in solidarity with Caribbean nations and sponsorship of the Jamaica Peace Cup. Regarding the outcomes of this partnership, President Bedward emphasized, “It goes beyond simple events, serving as a bridge that fosters harmony among vulnerable community members, the police, and NGOs. Building such relationships of trust has contributed to meaningful social outcomes, including efforts to reduce crime within the community.”
Finally, President Bedward delivered a powerful message to young people around the world:
“On behalf of JCI Jamaica, I would like to speak to young people around the world. I encourage you to move forward without fear for yourselves and for future generations. We are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but also the driving force changing the world today. Never underestimate the power of even your smallest action. That small action will one day bear great fruit. I believe that the peace we seek can surely be achieved. If we truly desire a peaceful world, we as leaders must hold firmly to the conviction that we must expand cooperation and move forward together.”
