[HWPL] HWPL's “International Initiative for Sustainable Peace” Peacekeepers Conference in Mongolia

Chairman ManHee Lee is the head representative of the global peace organization HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), which is striving for the enactment and implementation of the international peace law 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)'. The  DPCW is a legal instrument comprised of 10 articles and 38 clauses that can end wars and hostilities throughout the world. HWPL is also spreading a culture of peace and implementing peace education.

Chairman ManHee Lee experienced the cruelty and tragedy of war as a veteran of the Korean War. This is one of the reasons why he founded a global peace campaign as the head of HWPL. He has traveled the globe more than 35 times to meet and persuade politicians, legal experts, journalists, professors, peace activists, civil organization leaders, heads of tribes and others to unite them for the work of peace. The significant fruits borne out of his hard work are the World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Summit and HWPL Peace Committee. The DPCW was drafted and finalised by the HWPL Peace Committee.

How, you may wonder, do I know this? About 10 years ago, when I had just been discharged from military service, I came to know HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee while researching the topic of civil conflicts to satisfy my curiosity in ongoing global issues. At that time, the island of Mindanao in the Philippines was suffering from a major civil conflict that lasted more than 40 years, and Chairman ManHee Lee and HWPL resolved this conflict through non-violent means.

Chairman Lee brought an end to the conflict in Mindanao by holding a peace talk between the warring Catholic and Islamic groups. Before the talk, HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee held a Peace Walk to spread the culture of peace in Mindanao with the many locals who had gathered out of a desire for peace.

Chairman ManHee Lee's pressing appeal today is that humanity unites for sustainable peace in order to pass on the legacy of peace to future generations worldwide. He doesn't just talk peace, but has worked tirelessly for it through practical peace campaigns for over a decade.

I decided to become a supporter of HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee's peace initiatives because I also desire a world of peace for all posterity.

HWPL and the Mongolian Red Cross Explore Sustainable Peace with 110 Peacekeepers

 

On May 28, HWPL Mongolia Branch and the Bayanzurkh Branch of the Mongolian Red Cross Society jointly hosted the “International Initiative for Sustainable Peace” Peacekeepers Conference at the Chinggis Khaan National Museum in Ulaanbaatar to commemorate the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.

The conference was organized to enhance understanding of international peace initiatives and strengthen cooperation among those engaged in peacekeeping activities. Approximately 180 people attended the event, including 110 peacekeepers. In particular, the official participation of the peacekeepers, with the approval of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, made the conference a meaningful opportunity to reinforce practical solidarity and cooperation for peacekeeping efforts.

 

 

Mongolia is widely recognized by the international community as a country that actively contributes to global peace through its participation in international peacekeeping operations. In fact, Mongolia is one of the major troop-contributing countries to United Nations peacekeeping missions and has devoted decades to promoting international peace. Against this backdrop, the conference highlighted the dedication of peacekeepers while emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and citizens’ preparedness in responding to disasters and emergency situations for the realization of sustainable peace.

The conference was held at the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, one of Mongolia’s most prominent cultural institutions and a symbol of the nation’s history and identity. The legacy of the Mongol Empire, which once connected East and West across the vast steppes, continues today in the spirit of peace and solidarity that transcends borders. At this historic venue, where the heritage of connecting diverse peoples and regions has been preserved, participants reflected on the values of international cooperation and peace while expressing their appreciation for the dedication of peacekeepers.

 

Introduction to the significance of the DPCW

 

The program included a photo exhibition, congratulatory remarks, peace lectures, and disaster response training. The Peacekeeping Veterans Committee introduced the contributions of peace initiatives to Mongolia’s national security, while HWPL Mongolia Branch presented the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), emphasizing the importance of building peace based on international law. The Mongolian Red Cross Society also conducted psychological support and first-aid training for disaster situations, helping participants strengthen their practical emergency response capabilities.

Participants shared their experiences in peacekeeping operations and expressed a common understanding of the importance of peace education and international cooperation in the peacebuilding process. They also emphasized the need for practical actions to achieve peace. The conference served as a platform where peacekeepers, civil society, and humanitarian organizations came together to explore pathways toward sustainable peace while broadening consensus on fostering a culture of peace.

An HWPL representative remarked, “This event is particularly meaningful because it marks an official collaboration between HWPL and the Bayanzurkh Branch of the Mongolian Red Cross Society, one of Mongolia’s leading humanitarian organizations.” The representative added, “Building upon our shared values of peace and humanitarianism, the two organizations have presented a new model of cooperation for promoting a culture of peace and strengthening citizens’ capacities.”

HWPL Mongolia Branch and the Bayanzurkh Branch of the Mongolian Red Cross Society plan to continue their cooperation by promoting peace education programs for peacekeepers and working together to expand a sustainable culture of peace.

The conference was featured by major local media outlets, including the official Facebook page of the Bayanzurkh Branch of the Mongolian Red Cross Society, Daily News, UNEN newspaper, and the Gerege.mn news website.
