[HWPL] HWPL's Peace Event in India

Chairman ManHee Lee is the head representative of the global peace organization HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), which is striving for the enactment and implementation of the international peace law 'Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)'. The  DPCW is a legal instrument comprised of 10 articles and 38 clauses that can end wars and hostilities throughout the world. HWPL is also spreading a culture of peace and implementing peace education.

Chairman ManHee Lee experienced the cruelty and tragedy of war as a veteran of the Korean War. This is one of the reasons why he founded a global peace campaign as the head of HWPL. He has traveled the globe more than 35 times to meet and persuade politicians, legal experts, journalists, professors, peace activists, civil organization leaders, heads of tribes and others to unite them for the work of peace. The significant fruits borne out of his hard work are the World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Summit and HWPL Peace Committee. The DPCW was drafted and finalised by the HWPL Peace Committee.

How, you may wonder, do I know this? About 10 years ago, when I had just been discharged from military service, I came to know HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee while researching the topic of civil conflicts to satisfy my curiosity in ongoing global issues. At that time, the island of Mindanao in the Philippines was suffering from a major civil conflict that lasted more than 40 years, and Chairman ManHee Lee and HWPL resolved this conflict through non-violent means.

Chairman Lee brought an end to the conflict in Mindanao by holding a peace talk between the warring Catholic and Islamic groups. Before the talk, HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee held a Peace Walk to spread the culture of peace in Mindanao with the many locals who had gathered out of a desire for peace.

Chairman ManHee Lee's pressing appeal today is that humanity unites for sustainable peace in order to pass on the legacy of peace to future generations worldwide. He doesn't just talk peace, but has worked tirelessly for it through practical peace campaigns for over a decade.

I decided to become a supporter of HWPL and Chairman ManHee Lee's peace initiatives because I also desire a world of peace for all posterity.

Today I'd like to introduce an article regarding HWPL's Peace Events in India

【Bengaluru-HWPL】 From August 10 to 11, 2025, a series of peace events organized by the international peace NGO HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) took place in Bengaluru, including activities at the Vidhana Soudha, the Karnataka State Legislative Assembly. The events brought together law professors, Christian leaders, and senior officials from the Karnataka state government, who shared the vision of peace and expressed strong willingness to collaborate.

The first event, the K.H. Patil Law College–HWPL Peace and Legal Exchange Meeting (August 10, morning), featured an introduction to HWPL’s peace initiatives and achievements, followed by discussions on cooperation for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and peace education projects. Local faculty members affirmed that HWPL’s efforts are marked by “genuineness and sustainability,” and an official MOU was signed between the two institutions. Former Dean of the Bangalore University Law Department, Dr. V. Sudesh, announced his intention to join HWPL’s activities after retirement, stating, “I wish to contribute to educating the younger generation of India about peace.”

The DPCW (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War) aims to revive the founding spirit of peace enshrined in the United Nations Charter and to realize sustainable peace by advancing universal values shared across the global community. It outlines practical principles and measures for preventing and resolving conflicts, as well as maintaining a peaceful international order—earning growing attention from civil society and global leaders alike..

On the morning of August 11, the Christian Peace Academy Forum was held under the theme “Be the Light! Healing the Divided World with Christian Love.” More than 80 participants, including religious leaders and citizens, gathered for the forum. Presenters such as Rev. Michael Kim and Dr. Anish K. Joy emphasized interfaith harmony through love and compassion, drawing on biblical teachings. The event included a Peace Pledge Ceremony by religious leaders and an MOU signing with HWPL. Many participants also became HWPL members on site, joining the global peace movement.

That afternoon, a meeting was held at the Karnataka Legislative Assembly with the Minister of Law and the Speaker. Both leaders expressed strong interest in HWPL and the DPCW, stating that they were “already aware and ready to actively cooperate.”

Throughout the events, leaders from Hinduism, Sikhism, Catholicism, Christianity, and sociology experts also gathered to watch a video presentation on the Mindanao peace case, highlighting the importance of continuous interfaith dialogue. Many leaders expressed their commitment to actively participate in HWPL’s initiatives by signing MOUs and registering as members.

These consecutive events demonstrated that India’s legal, religious, and political leaders resonate with HWPL’s vision of peace and are taking concrete steps within their fields to advance it. The outcomes are expected to further accelerate the expansion of HWPL’s international peace initiatives across India.
